In the new K-drama “Ms. Incognito,” actress Jeon Yeo Been plays a woman with a dangerous secret. She is Kim Young Ran, a bodyguard who enters a contract marriage with a terminally ill chairman, only to find herself targeted by his greedy heirs. To survive and claim the inheritance, she must hide her true identity for three months. The High-Stakes Disguise
The premise of “Ms. Incognito” is a life-and-death gamble. Jeon Yeo Been’s character, Kim Young Ran, is a bodyguard from a poor background. She agrees to a contract marriage with the wealthy Chairman Ga Seong Ho, played by Moon Sung Geun. In return for playing the role of his wife, Young Ran is promised his entire estate.
The plan takes a dark turn when the chairman dies, and his stepchildren, Ga Sun Young and Ga Sun Woo, see Young Ran as the only obstacle standing between them and their inheritance. To evade their schemes, Young Ran must disappear. With the help of the chairman’s loyal lawyer, Lee Don, she assumes the identity of Boo Se Mi and relocates to the rural village of Muchang. Her mission is simple: survive undetected for three months until the shareholders’ meeting where she can cast the decisive vote against the stepchildren.
A Stranger in a Nosy Village
The village of Muchang, where Boo Se Mi is supposed to hide, is the last place for someone trying to keep a low profile. As described in the show, it’s a tiny community where everyone knows everyone else’s business. The arrival of a complete stranger immediately makes Boo Se Mi the center of attention. Villagers cannot hide their curiosity, watching her every move. This intense scrutiny turns her simple mission of hiding into a complex social challenge, where every interaction risks exposing her true identity.
The drama’s stills show Jeon Yeo Been’s character attracting stares wherever she goes. Despite the weight of the villagers’ eyes, she does her best to stay calm and keep a polite distance from her new neighbors. However, in a place where everyone knows each other, her very presence is a red flag.
The Suspicious Single Dad
Her most immediate threat comes from Jeon Dong Min, played by Jung Jinyoung. Dong Min is a strawberry farmer and a single father who supplies berries to the late chairman’s mansion. Having visited the mansion frequently, he is a familiar face from Young Ran’s past life, creating a direct link to the world she is trying to escape.
Dong Min is a cautious man who is slow to trust others, making him naturally suspicious of the new woman in town. In the upcoming episodes, he is seen bombarding Boo Se Mi with questions, visibly flustering her. This sets up a tense dynamic where the heroine must deceive the one person who might recognize her, all while navigating the unsettling romantic tension that begins to grow between them. As the drama’s producers noted, this relationship will make viewers wonder how it will affect Kim Young Ran’s plan to reboot her life despite her initial “no romance” rule.
A Drama Gaining Momentum
The series, which airs on the ENA network and is available on Viki, premiered on September 29, 2025. It seems to have quickly found its audience. The show’s viewership more than doubled from its first episode to its second, with ratings jumping from 2.4% to 4.0% according to Nielsen Korea. This rebound is attributed to its fresh storyline and strong performances.
Director Park Yoo Young, known for “The Kidnapping Day,” has expressed great confidence in his lead actress. He said:
“I’ve admired her since her independent film days and thought of her as an actress who excels at conveying inner emotions. She can persuasively express a character’s feelings not only through dialogue but also with just her eyes. While filming, she was an enormous help.”
Early reviews of the first two episodes praise Jeon Yeo Been’s performance, noting her ability to balance her character’s two identities—from a seething, angry bodyguard to a woman trying to project confidence under pressure. The show successfully blends suspense, crime, and romance, creating a ticking-clock story that has already hooked viewers. The next episode airs on October 6, 2025, at 10 p.m. KST.
