The latest episode of House of David, titled “God of Swords,” delivers major twists as a dangerous mission reveals a commander’s secret past and a shocking prophecy pushes David to openly defy King Saul. The episode, which premiered on October 26, 2025, sees David and his men journey to the outlaw city of Endor, where they encounter a powerful seer whose predictions will change the course of Israel’s future.

The Philistines’ Unbeatable Weapon

The episode opens months after David’s triumph over Goliath, showing a kingdom still under constant threat. The Israelites, led by a now more skilled and confident David, are fighting off repeated Philistine attacks. They face a new and daunting challenge: the Philistines are armed with stronger, sharper iron swords that easily shatter the Israelites’ copper blades. After a battle where his men must scavenge fallen enemies’ weapons to win, David realizes Goliath’s sword was made of the same superior material.

Commander Abner investigates Goliath’s sword, discovering a unique maker’s mark. He identifies the creator as a master swordsmith known as the “God of Swords,” who lives in the dangerous city of Endor. To avoid alarming the smith, King Saul approves a small, covert team led by Abner and including David and Jonathan to travel to Endor disguised as traders.

A Swordsmith’s Bargain

In the chaotic city of Endor, the group finds the reclusive swordsmith. He reveals he uses iron and high-heat charcoal to forge the powerful weapons and admits to creating Goliath’s sword. He initially refuses to help the Israelites, wanting to avoid trouble with the Philistines. Abner, however, knows the smith’s weakness: years ago, his daughter Bathsheba was taken as an Edomite slave because of his debts.

Abner offers the swordsmith a deal: help the Israelites, and he will help reunite him with his daughter. This promise is too compelling for the smith to refuse, and he agrees to join Abner’s group and share his knowledge.

The Witch’s Cave and a Stunning Revelation

Before the group can leave Endor, they are captured and taken to a cave to meet a feared local figure, the Witch of Endor. The seer speaks to each man, reading their fates. She identifies David as the anointed king but chooses to keep his identity a secret. She then delivers a grave prophecy, telling Abner he will witness King Saul’s painful death and will soon meet his own end.

The encounter takes a personal turn when the Witch reveals she is Abner’s mother. She speaks negatively of his past, suggesting he abandoned his family and their practices in Endor to serve in Saul’s army. She lets the group go, stating she does not want their blood on her hands. Though Abner dismisses her words as lies, the prophecy unsettles everyone.

Love and Defiance at the Palace

Back in Gibeah, the episode explores the deteriorating relationships within the royal family. Queen Ahinoam remains estranged from King Saul, who now prefers the company of his concubine, Kazia. Ahinoam tries to win back Saul’s favor by stoking his jealousy of David’s popularity, but the king sees through her attempt.

David’s personal life is also complicated. He visits Mychal, admitting he still has feelings for her, but she turns him down, saying the heartbreak is too painful to risk again. Meanwhile, Saul’s daughter Mirab, who is promised to David, receives advice and a ring from her mother, Ahinoam, on how to be a good wife to the future king.

The Witch’s advice to “live in the truth” has a direct impact on David and Jonathan’s actions. Inspired, Jonathan goes to see Sara, the healer he has feelings for. Despite her previous rejection, he kisses her, and she reciprocates, suggesting their romance may finally begin.

More dramatically, David takes the Witch’s words to heart. Upon returning to the palace, he boldly confronts King Saul. He refuses to marry Mirab, declaring he will only marry Mychal or no one at all. This direct defiance of the king’s wishes is an unprecedented move that risks David’s position and could force his anointed status into the open.

The Aftermath of a Prophecy

The group returns from Endor with the swordsmith and the knowledge to create iron weapons, a crucial victory for Israel’s military. However, this success is overshadowed by the Witch’s prophecy and David’s rebellion. Abner’s secret lineage and his predicted demise cast doubt on his future and loyalty. David’s refusal to marry Mirab sets the stage for a major confrontation with King Saul, threatening to tear the kingdom apart.
