Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi are back for another round of brutal boxing action in Bloodhounds Season 2, now streaming on Netflix with a terrifying new villain played by K-pop icon Rain.

Three years after the first season became a global hit, the Korean action series returns with higher risks and more personal battles. The new season shifts from street-level loan sharks to an illegal international boxing league where money and violence rule. The 7-episode season dropped on April 3, 2026, on Netflix worldwide.

Woo Do-hwan Returns As Kim Gun-woo

Woo Do-hwan reprises his role as Kim Gun-woo, the determined young boxer who first fought to save his mother from debt. In Season 2, Gun-woo is no longer just surviving. He is chasing his dream of becoming a world champion.

The actor prepared hard for this role. He gained 15 kilograms of muscle to show how Gun-woo spent three years training with a single goal in mind. Woo said at the press conference that while Season 1 showed Gun-woo as someone just starting out in society, this season he wanted to show a more mature version of the character.

“I think our friendship has deepened. People call it ‘bromance,’ but we think it’s ‘bromelo.’ These are friends who’ve known the pain of losing someone precious. They’re bound by fate, determined to make sure no one gets hurt to the very end, and they’re each other’s rock.” – Woo Do-hwan

Gun-woo finally gets his championship title match early in the season. But victory brings new problems. He catches the attention of Baek-jeong, the mastermind behind the global illegal boxing league, played by Jung Ji-hoon (Rain).

Lee Sang-yi Steps Up As Woo-jin The Coach

Lee Sang-yi returns as Hong Woo-jin, Gun-woo’s loyal partner and fellow boxer. But his role has changed. Woo-jin now serves as Gun-woo’s coach and stands by him as family.

This is Lee’s first time doing a seasonal drama. He said he felt proud when Season 2 was announced because it meant Season 1 had been recognized. The actor explained that Woo-jin’s growth centers on responsibility. As someone who truly cares for Gun-woo, he becomes his coach to help make him a world champion.

When the illegal boxing league emerges as a threat, Woo-jin decides to fight it alongside Gun-woo until the very end. The bond between the two leads is the emotional core of the show.

Director Kim Joo-hwan spoke about their chemistry. “There are so many scenes where they cry together this season, and I cried on set too,” he said. “This might be the best bromance I’ve ever made.”

Rain Joins As The New Villain Baek-jeong

Jung Ji-hoon, better known as the K-pop superstar Rain, joins the cast as Baek-jeong, the main antagonist of Season 2. This marks his first villain role in two decades of acting.

Baek-jeong runs an underground international boxing league where fighters are forced into brutal matches for profit. Unlike the loan sharks from Season 1, this enemy operates on a global scale. He is precise, controlled, and terrifyingly efficient.

Rain shared why he took the role. He has been a fan of director Kim for a long time. By chance, he came across Bloodhounds on Netflix the day he moved into a new house and ended up watching the entire series. When the offer came, he felt it was fate.

“Playing a villain itself was a burden, but I had a thirst to try an evil role. It felt good to be ‘trained’ by director Kim again after a long time. From an evil look to bulking up enough to box, I followed the director’s direction thoroughly. You’ll end up hating me.” – Rain (Jung Ji-hoon)

The actor said he only thought about how to make the two main characters miserable. The villain group also has its own dynamic, with Rain describing it as “bromance within the organization” where the bad guys envy and compete with each other.

Returning And New Supporting Cast Members

Park Sung-woong returns as Kim Myeong-gil, the loan shark kingpin from Season 1. Heo Jun-ho is back as Choi Tae-ho, the kind-hearted lender who helped Gun-woo and Woo-jin in their first fight.

Kim Sae-ron also appears in the new season. The show is directed by Kim Joo-hwan, known for films like Midnight Runners and The Divine Fury. Production comes from Korean studios Studio N, See AT Film, and Seven O Six.

The series is based on the webtoon “Sanyanggaedeul” by Jeong Chan.
