Fans of BTS member V are expressing confusion and frustration after HYBE Labels, the group’s entertainment agency, promoted a YouTube account that impersonates V.
According to a post on a popular online community on March 21st, a fan noticed a billboard ad in Seoul featuring content from V’s latest single “FRI(END’S).” The ad also included a specific YouTube channel credited with creating the content.

However, fans quickly pointed out that the promoted YouTube channel is actually an impersonation account that has been previously reported. The fan who created the online community post explained, “This account destroyed the original V topic that had 2.2 million followers. We requested that it be restored, but it was ignored, and a new account was made. Shortly after, this fake V account was created. So when you search for V, the fake account appears at the top. Fans have been protesting for days for this to be fixed.”

The situation worsened when the official BTS account shared the ad, further promoting the impersonation channel. The fan continued, “Today, BTS’s official account promoted the fake account. It had only 800 followers before, but now it has over 230,000 in a day. I’ve never seen a label promote a fake account before.”

This incident has sparked anger and disappointment among Korean netizens. Many commented on the online community post expressing disbelief and frustration with HYBE Labels’ handling of the situation. Comments included, “How are the fans working harder than the label,”ย “They are so bad at working,”ย “I’m so tired of this. Why can’t they work properly?” “What the heck? How are they promoting an impersonation account like that?”ย “For how long do fans need to do the work in place of the label?” “Is there a BTSย anti-fan among the employees?” “HYBE please do some work,” “V.officially is an impersonation account, I can’t believe the label promoted that account,”ย and “Wow, this is a mess.”
Currently, there has been no official response from HYBE Labels regarding the promotion of the impersonation account. BTS fans are hoping for clarification and a swift resolution to the issue.
