Fans of the hit anime series got a big surprise this week. Studio MAPPA dropped a brand new animated trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the spin-off manga set decades after the original story. The 30-second video arrived on April 30, 2026, just one day before the release of the spin-off’s third and final volume. The animation quality looks so good that many viewers now want a full anime adaptation of this futuristic story.

The trailer went viral immediately. Within just a few hours, it crossed 10 million views across social media platforms. Fans shared the video everywhere, praising MAPPA’s work and asking for more.

What Exactly Is Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo?

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is a spin-off manga written by Gege Akutami, the creator of the original Jujutsu Kaisen series. The illustrations were done by Yuji Iwasaki. The story takes place 68 years after the Culling Game arc of the main series, in the year 2086.

The plot is very different from the original. Instead of curses, humanity now faces an alien invasion. A race called the Simurians arrives on Earth in a spaceship. Two jujutsu sorcerers named Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu must save the world. The manga ran for 25 chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump, starting on September 8, 2025, and ending on March 9, 2026.

The manga was collected into three volumes. Volume 1 came out in January 2026, Volume 2 in March 2026, and Volume 3 released on May 1, 2026. The first two volumes sold very well, with over 190,000 copies for Volume 1 and nearly 195,000 for Volume 2.

Inside the Stunning New Trailer

The trailer was made by a dedicated team at Studio MAPPA. Shun Miyagawa served as director and storyboard artist. Sota Yamazaki handled character design, and Yuji Kaneko worked as art director. This is the same studio that produced the original Jujutsu Kaisen anime, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, and Chainsaw Man.

The 30-second video shows many exciting moments. Viewers see ruined cities, intense fight scenes, and emotional character interactions. The animation is smooth with dramatic lighting and dynamic camera work. The trailer also brought back familiar voice actors. Junya Enoki returned as Yuji Itadori, and Nobunaga Shimazaki voiced Mahito.

The trailer reveals key characters from the spin-off. Maru, the main character, appears alongside Yuka and Tsurugi. There are also hints of new, powerful races and dangerous battles ahead. One of the biggest surprises was the appearance of both Mahito and Yuji Itadori in the video. The trailer also showed the fight between Dabura and Divine General Mahoraga, which is one of the manga’s most talked-about battles.

Volume 3 of the manga includes extra content as well. The final volume has a special short extra chapter, bookstore bonus illustrations, and this special promotional video. The extra content also features Aoi Todo, a fan-favorite character from the original series.

Fans React to the High-Quality Animation

The trailer has created huge excitement across social media. Many viewers were shocked by how good the animation looks for a simple promotional video. Some fans commented that the quality feels too high for just a manga advertisement.

On Facebook, one user named Suta Hoshi questioned whether the trailer was real or AI-generated, saying, “Considering the Jujutsu Kaisen series hasn’t finished yet, Mappa suddenly releases a mod trailer? This doesn’t make any sense at all.” This shows how surprised many fans were by the unexpected release.

Other fan pages celebrated the trailer. The Nathanistic Facebook page noted that the video “delivers exactly the kind of high-quality fans have been hoping to see from the spin-off.” They also pointed out that photos of Gojo and the original first-year students appear at key moments, “hitting longtime readers directly in the heart.”

Many fans are now pushing for a full anime adaptation. Calls for MAPPA to turn Modulo into a complete series or movie have been spreading quickly across the fandom. The promotional video essentially showed that the studio can bring this story to life beautifully.

Will There Be a Full Anime Adaptation?

As of now, there is no official announcement about a Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo anime adaptation. The trailer is officially a “commemoration special PV” meant to celebrate the manga’s ending and boost final volume sales.

However, fans have good reasons to hope. The main Jujutsu Kaisen anime is still ongoing. The third season, Jujutsu Kaisen Culling Game Arc Part 1, aired from January to March 2026. Part 2 is coming in the future. The studio also still needs to adapt the Shinjuku Showdown arc, which is the final major story of the original manga.

Because of this busy schedule, any Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo anime would likely arrive years from now. Industry speculation suggests a possible release around 2029 or 2030. That timeline would give MAPPA time to finish the original series first.

Some fans think Modulo would work better as a movie or OVA rather than a full TV series. The spin-off is relatively short, so a film adaptation could tell the complete story faster while keeping the same high animation quality.

For now, this trailer serves as both a celebration of the manga’s end and a strong hint that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo could one day return in animated form. The video shows that MAPPA already has the skills and vision to make it happen.

A Smart Marketing Move from MAPPA

The trailer is also an interesting business move. Instead of announcing a full anime, MAPPA put resources into a standalone promotional video. This allows the studio to keep the Jujutsu Kaisen brand visible without committing to a long production cycle.

The timing works well. The franchise is preparing for the Culling Game Part 2 release in the future. The Modulo trailer keeps fans engaged during the wait. It also helps convert social media viewers into manga buyers, especially since the final volume just hit stores.
