MAMAMOO‘s highly awaited return to Jakarta will not happen as planned. The K-pop group’s 2026 WORLD TOUR [4WARD] concert at NICE PIK 2, originally scheduled for September 19, 2026, has been officially cancelled. The decision comes just days after Indonesia’s Mount Anak Krakatau began erupting, spreading volcanic ash across parts of Java and Sumatra and forcing the temporary closure of multiple airports in the region.
RBW Confirms Cancellation One Week Before Show
RBW, MAMAMOO’s agency, shared the cancellation notice on September 11, 2026, through the group’s official social media channels. The announcement came exactly eight days before the concert was set to take place, leaving fans with little time to adjust their plans.
The agency’s statement explained that the decision was made after careful discussions with the local promoter, WithUs Indonesia. The full statement read:
“We regret to inform you that the ‘MAMAMOO 2026 WORLD TOUR <4WARD> in JAKARTA,’ which was scheduled to take place at NICE PIK 2 on September 19, 2026, has been canceled due to unavoidable circumstances. Due to recent volcanic activity in Indonesia, along with strengthened local safety and security measures, unpredictable circumstances have continued to develop. After discussions with the local promoter, we ultimately decided to cancel the concert with the safety of the artists and audience as our top priority.”
What Forced the Cancellation
Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait began a continuous eruption episode on September 4, 2026, at 11:07 p.m. local time. The eruption lasted approximately 25 hours before transitioning back to smaller Strombolian eruptions on September 6. Volcanic ash spread across the region, reaching heights of up to 7,000 feet (2.1 km) and drifting northwest toward Teluk Lampung.
The ash cloud prompted Indonesian authorities to temporarily close eight airports, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta, and Radin Inten II Airport in Lampung. The closures disrupted nearly 3,000 flights in and out of the affected areas. While airports had resumed operations by September 8, Mount Anak Krakatau remained at Level III (Alert status), with authorities advising the public to avoid activities within a three-kilometer danger radius of the active crater.
The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center (PVMBG) recorded continued volcanic activity in the days following the initial eruption, including additional eruptions on September 9 with a maximum amplitude of 51 mm. Although volcanic ash was no longer detected in some areas by September 11, the situation remained unpredictable, leading RBW and WithUs Indonesia to prioritize safety over proceeding with the event.
Full Refunds for All Ticket Holders
RBW confirmed that all tickets purchased for the Jakarta show will be fully refunded. The agency stated that details regarding the refund process and schedule will be announced separately by the ticketing platform FASTicket and the local promoter WithUs Indonesia.
Fans who bought tickets through official channels are advised to wait for further instructions from these platforms. The agency added:
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and concern this cancellation may cause to the fans who have been looking forward to the concert, and we kindly ask for your understanding.”
MAMAMOO’s First Full Group Tour in Three Years
The 4WARD world tour marked MAMAMOO’s first full-group tour since their MY CON world tour in 2022-2023. The tour kicked off in Seoul on June 19, 2026 — the group’s 12th debut anniversary — with performances at Olympic Hall. The tour title 4WARD combines the number 4, representing the four members — Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa — and the word forward, symbolizing their reunion as a complete group after focusing on solo careers.
The tour included stops in Kaohsiung, Macau, Singapore, Manila, multiple U.S. cities including New York, Chicago, Fort Worth, Cedar Park, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Kent, followed by Jakarta, Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and a newly added Tokyo show on October 25.
The Jakarta concert was set to take place at NICE PIK 2 at 6:30 p.m. WIB, following the group’s Kent performance on August 30 and ahead of their Melbourne show on September 22. Ticket sales had opened on July 17, 2026, through FASTicket, with prices starting from Rp 950,000 for the cheapest category and going up to Rp 4,300,000 for VVIP.
T.O.P’s Jakarta Fanmeeting Also Cancelled
MAMAMOO’s cancellation came just one day after a similar announcement for T.O.P‘s Jakarta fanmeeting. The former BIGBANG rapper’s “T.O.P PRE-STUDIO 2026” event, also scheduled for September 19, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. WIB, was cancelled by promoter TONZ Entertainment on September 10 due to local conditions. T.O.P’s event was part of his first Asia tour, which also includes stops in Hong Kong, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, and Kaohsiung.
The back-to-back cancellations highlight the widespread impact of the volcanic activity on scheduled entertainment events in the region.
