Netflix has released the first look at its upcoming series, “You and Everything Else,” starring Kim Go Eun and Park Ji Hyun. This emotional drama, previously titled “Two Women,” explores the intricate bond between two lifelong friends, Eun Joong (Kim Go Eun) and Sang Yeon (Park Ji Hyun). Their relationship is a complex mix of love, admiration, jealousy, and rivalry, spanning several decades.
A Friendship Forged in Fire
Kim Go Eun, known for her roles in “Exhuma” and “Yumi’s Cells,” portrays Ryu Eun Joong, a genuine and appealing character. Park Ji Hyun, who impressed audiences in “Do You Like Brahms?” and “Reborn Rich,” plays Cheon Sang Yeon, Eun Joong’s best friend and rival. Their story follows their connection from elementary school through their 30s, showcasing the love and tension that define their relationship as they navigate life’s highs and lows.
The narrative begins with their childhood meeting in elementary school. Eun Joong admires Sang Yeon, who appears to have everything: wealth, talent, and charisma. Despite feeling envy, they form a strong friendship. As they mature, their bond experiences numerous separations and reunions, evolving as they face the challenges of adulthood.
A Heartbreaking Reunion
Years later, Eun Joong, now a screenwriter, and Sang Yeon, a successful filmmaker, reconnect at age 42. Their reunion is bittersweet: Sang Yeon reveals she has terminal cancer and wants Eun Joong’s help in facing her impending death. The series explores their emotional journey as they revisit their shared past, reflecting on the profound and lasting impact they have had on each other’s lives.
Kim Gun Woo, from “The Glory,” joins the cast as Kim Sang Hak, a charming and passionate senior in the university photography club where Eun Joong and Sang Yeon are members. Sang Hak’s genuine affection for Eun Joong leads to a relationship, making him a significant figure in both women’s lives.
“You and Everything Else” is directed by Jo Young Min (“Do You Like Brahms?”, “The Interest of Love”) and written by Song Hye Jin (“The Smile Has Left Your Eyes”). The series is set to premiere in the third quarter of 2025.
