The anime series Solo Leveling has secured another major achievement in the streaming world. The dark fantasy show is now the first anime on Crunchyroll to amass over 900,000 user ratings. This new record reinforces the series’ global popularity following its dominant performance at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, where it was named Anime of the Year.

A Milestone for Streaming Engagement

This landmark number highlights the series’ exceptional reach and viewer engagement. Reaching 900,000 ratings is a significant indicator of global audience penetration, putting the title far ahead of other major anime on the platform. The series also maintains an impressive average rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars from those hundreds of thousands of reviews.

This is not the first time Solo Leveling has topped Crunchyroll’s charts. Earlier in the year, it was declared the most-viewed anime in the platform’s history. It also previously overtook established series like One Piece and Demon Slayer to become the most-rated title on the service. The show’s continued performance confirms its status as a major force in modern anime.

Overwhelming Success at the 2025 Anime Awards

The series’ record-breaking streaming numbers follow a historic sweep at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. Solo Leveling won nine out of the thirteen categories it was nominated for, including the top prize of Anime of the Year. Its other wins included Best New Anime, Best Action Anime, and Best Main Character for its protagonist, Sung Jinwoo.

Aleks Le also won the award for Best Anime Voice Artist Performance in English for his role as Sung Jinwoo. The awards, which are voted on by fans, demonstrated the show’s powerful connection with its international audience and capped off a year of unprecedented acclaim.

A Contrast in Domestic and International Reception

Despite its massive global success, the series’ producer has noted a different reaction in Japan. Atsushi Kaneko, the animation producer for Solo Leveling, spoke about the contrast in an interview.

“The way the Solo Leveling anime was received in Japan was no different from any other anime,” Kaneko said. “So when we learned how the series exceptionally blew up in popularity for our global Solo Leveling fans, honestly speaking, this difference in reaction was very unexpected.”

This disparity was also reflected in the anime’s domestic Blu-ray sales, which were significantly lower than its international streaming performance. The series’ overwhelming popularity outside of Japan showcases its unique position as a global phenomenon.

The Wait for What Comes Next

Even with all its achievements, the future of the Solo Leveling anime is still unconfirmed. Despite the show’s record-breaking viewership and award wins, there has been no official announcement regarding Season 3. The second season concluded its run on March 30, 2025.

Producer Atsushi Kaneko has teased that a big announcement is coming, stating, “I know what the world is waiting for, but I want it to wait a little longer.” In the meantime, rumors about a potential Solo Leveling movie continue to circulate, though details on whether it would be a compilation film or a new story remain unclear.
