The creator of Alien: Earth has given a clear answer to one of the biggest fan questions. Noah Hawley says there are no plans for the Predator to appear in the upcoming second season of his hit FX series. The statement directly addresses ongoing speculation that the two legendary alien franchises might collide on the small screen.

The question came up during Hawley’s recent appearance on the SmartLess podcast. While praising the recent Predator films, Hawley drew a firm line for his own project. He explained that his focus is solely on the world of Alien, and he is not coordinating any crossover plans with the creative team behind the Predator movies.

The Official Statement from the Show’s Creator

When asked directly if a Predator crossover was in the works for Alien: Earth, Hawley’s response was unambiguous.

โ€œNo, not onto the show, I donโ€™t think. I think Dan Trachtenberg, who made ‘Prey’ and has made the ‘Badlands’ movie โ€” you know, I loved ‘Prey.’ I think heโ€™s doing a great job with that franchise. He clearly has a plan there. Iโ€™ve met Dan once, weโ€™re not kind of coordinating any of that stuff. So, itโ€™s not really my plan to do it.โ€

This statement makes it clear that while Hawley respects the work being done on the Predator side of the universe, he sees the two creative efforts as separate paths. He has indicated that his communication with Dan Trachtenberg, the director of recent Predator films, is limited to ensuring their stories do not accidentally cover the same ground, not to build a shared narrative.

Why a Crossover Seemed Possible

The speculation about a crossover did not come from nowhere. Recent developments in the Predator film series have actively included elements from the Alien universe. The latest movie, Predator: Badlands, which premiered in November 2025, features a major connection.

In Predator: Badlands, the young Predator protagonist teams up with a synthetic character named Thia, played by Elle Fanning. Crucially, Thia is identified as a synth built by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. This is the same powerful and often villainous company that is central to the lore of the Alien films and appears in Alien: Earth.

Director Dan Trachtenberg explained this choice was a natural way to blend the worlds without needing human characters, allowing the Predator to remain the story’s clear focus. This explicit link led many fans to wonder if a larger crossover event was being planned by Disney, which now owns both franchises.

The Separate Roads of Alien and Predator

Despite the shared corporate ownership and the narrative link in Badlands, the current strategy appears to be letting each franchise develop its own identity. Hawley’s Alien: Earth is a prequel set in the year 2120, two years before the events of the original 1979 Alien film. The show follows a group of synthetic human hybrids, led by Sydney Chandler’s character Wendy, after a ship crash unleashes Xenomorphs on Earth.

Hawley has described his approach as “filling in the gaps” before the classic films, building out the world of Weyland-Yutani and the nature of humanity in a corporate-ruled future. His goal is to expand the Alien mythology on its own terms.

Meanwhile, Dan Trachtenberg has revitalized the Predator series with a focus on new perspectives, like the 18th-century Comanche setting of Prey and the robot-partner dynamic of Badlands. When asked about a potential Alien vs. Predator movie, Trachtenberg has said any crossover should feel organic to a compelling story, not just a forced clash of icons. This suggests that if a crossover does happen, it would likely be a dedicated film project rather than a subplot within the TV series.

What This Means for Alien: Earth Season 2

With the crossover question settled, attention returns to what Alien: Earth Season 2 will actually involve. The series was officially renewed by FX and Hulu in November 2025. Specific plot details for the new season are still under wraps.

The first season left the fate of its characters in a precarious position. The core cast includes Alex Lawther as Hermit, Essie Davis as Dame Sylvia, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, and Timothy Olyphant as the cyborg Kirsh. Hawley’s vision for the show explores deep themes of corporate power, artificial life, and what it means to be human in a world where biology can be redesigned. Season 1 is currently available to stream in full on Hulu. An official release date for Alien: Earth Season 2 has not been announced.
