A Look Back at Episodes 1 and 2
Pro Bono follows Kang Da-wit, a famous and ambitious judge known for his efficiency and material success. His life falls apart after he receives a mysterious box full of cash, an incident that forces him to leave his prestigious position.
With his career in ruins, Da-wit has no choice but to join a public interest law team, known as a pro bono division, at a large firm. He is paired with Park Gi-ppeum, a passionate and idealistic lawyer who deeply cares about social justice and helping ordinary people.
In Episode 2, Da-wit worked on his first case with the team, defending a woman trying to keep her dog, Byeol, from an abusive former owner. To win, he had to navigate hidden truths from his own client and face an unethical opposing attorney. The episode ended with a significant revelation: Oh Jeong-in, a colleague, knows the scammer who gave Da-wit the box of cash that destroyed his career.
What to Expect in Episode 3
The preview for Episode 3 shows the pro bono team taking on a new and unusual case. They are approached by a disabled child who wants to sue God for compensation.
This case immediately creates conflict within the team. Da-wit, still motivated by money and prestige, does not want to take it. His reluctance angers Yoo Nan-hee, a dedicated human rights lawyer on the team.
โDa-wit doesnโt want to take the case and goes on about making money. Nan-hui, a passionate human rights lawyer, explodes.โ
Despite his initial refusal, Da-wit agrees to help. The team finds an address to send a formal complaint letter to, moving the case forward. Da-wit suspects the child has an underlying motive related to runaway teens and decides to sue a powerful CEO named Choi Woong-san, a move that upsets another team member, Myeong-hun.
This case will likely challenge Da-wit’s worldview further and force him to confront the real-world impact of legal help for the vulnerable.
