After the Flood season 2 will start on Sunday, 18 January 2026 on ITV1 in the UK at 9pm. The show will be available to watch live on ITV1 and will also be streaming on ITVX, ITV’s online streaming service. Season 2 Story: Jo Marshall’s New Investigation
The second season picks up with detective Jo Marshall, played by Sophie Rundle, in a new role. She has been promoted from Police Constable (PC) to detective. A new and strange murder case happens in her town, Waterside. The town is still dealing with the effects of climate change, this time facing the threat of moorland fires which could lead to more flooding. While investigating the murder, Jo finds herself fighting against powerful people in the town. The official description says the investigation becomes “deeply personal” for her. She will have to work in secret to try and stop the corruption that has hurt the local police and her own family for many years.
Returning Cast Members for the New Season
Most of the main actors from the first season are coming back. Sophie Rundle returns as the lead character, Jo Marshall. Other returning actors include:
- Lorraine Ashbourne as Molly Marshall, Jo’s mother.
- Nicholas Gleaves as Sergeant Phil Mackie, the corrupt officer Jo discovered in season one. The first season ended with him threatening Jo’s family if she told anyone about his crimes.
- Philip Glenister as Jack Radcliffe, a former ally of Sergeant Mackie.
- Matt Stokoe as Pat Holman, Jo’s husband.
- Faye McKeever as Kelly Kamali.
- George Bukhari as Keith Kamali.
- Tripti Tripuraneni as PC Deepa Das.
- Jacqueline Boatswain as Sarah Mackie.
New Actors Joining the Cast
Season two also introduces several new characters played by well-known actors. Jill Halfpenny joins the show as DS Sam Bradley, Jo Marshall’s new police partner. Other new actors include Alun Armstrong (known for Sherwood), Ian Puleston-Davies, and Matthew McNulty.
