Fans of the hit animated series will have to wait a little longer for its return. My Adventures with Superman Season 3 has been officially delayed and is now scheduled to arrive in early 2026, marking a shift from the show’s previous annual release pattern. The season is confirmed to air on Adult Swim’s Toonami block and will stream on Max. Production is moving forward, with the creative team providing promising updates about what’s next for Clark, Lois, and Jimmy.
What We Know About the Season 3 Release Date
The show will not have a new season in 2025. This was confirmed when HBO Max’s official December 2025 release schedule did not include the new season, solidifying the delay. Earlier in the year, there was hope for a 2025 premiere. In August 2025, showrunner Jake Wyatt announced that Season 3 had entered post-production. This news led many to believe the season could drop before the end of the year.
Lead voice actor Jack Quaid, who plays Clark Kent, also fueled excitement. At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, he mentioned he had already recorded the first episode.
“I recorded the first episode the other day. It’s going really well. I love the show. I’m so excited for you guys to see that season,” Quaid said.
Despite this progress, the final scheduling decision pushed the season into the next year. This will be the first time the show has not released a new season the year following the last, extending the wait for viewers since Season 2 concluded.
New Heroes and Villains Joining the Story
Season 3 is set to expand the show’s universe significantly by introducing several major characters from DC Comics lore. The storyline will continue directly from the Season 2 finale, which saw Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, crash-land at the Fortress of Solitude. Her journey adjusting to life on Earth after escaping Brainiac’s control will be a central part of the new season.
New heroes are also on the way. Concept art and teases have pointed to the arrival of Superboy, also known as Conner Kent. Furthermore, the heroic John Henry Irons, who debuted in Season 2 as a scientist and armor designer, is expected to continue his path, potentially stepping more fully into his role as Steel.
The villains’ side is getting major upgrades. Lex Luthor will finally sport his classic, fully bald look as he solidifies his move from opportunistic businessman to a true power player in Metropolis. He is also set to form a dangerous alliance with the mercenary Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke. Showrunner Jake Wyatt described them as “two self-serving survivors” now working together in the private sector.
One of the biggest transformations will be that of Hank Henshaw. The season will follow his long-teased evolution into the powerful and tragic Cyborg Superman. This suggests the show may explore themes and story elements reminiscent of the famous “Death of Superman” comic book arc.
How the Show Fits Into DC’s Broader Plans
My Adventures with Superman exists as an Elseworlds story within DC’s multiverse, meaning it tells its own unique tale separate from the main DC Universe films. However, its success has made it an important and popular part of DC’s animated lineup.
The series is also planting seeds for a larger animated world. Showrunner Jake Wyatt is actively developing a spin-off titled My Adventures with Green Lantern, which will focus on teenager Jessica Cruz. While talking about the spin-off, Wyatt playfully warned it was “so much worse than you think,” adding, “I mean that if you hate fun, you are gonna have a real bad time”. This project confirms that the creative team is building a connected universe with more stories to tell.
For fans looking to catch up or re-watch, both Season 1 and Season 2 are available to stream in full on Max. The series also airs on the Adult Swim television channel, and Season 1 is available for digital purchase.
