What Happened in Episode 2
Episode 2, titled “Deuxième étrangeté” (Second Strangeness), premiered on July 12, 2026. The episode continues the supernatural comedy as the nameless protagonist gets further entangled with the Kaikigumi.
In this episode, Miss Chaos gives a supposedly haunted doll to her trusted associate. The doll, voiced by Mayumi Shintani, becomes a key element in the ongoing strange occurrences. The protagonist, already terrified of anything supernatural, finds himself dealing with yet another bizarre situation.
The episode builds on the show’s central premise: the Kaikigumi, once led by Mechako’s father, exists to scare humans with supernatural phenomena. Mechako, still learning what humans find truly scary, uses the protagonist as her test subject because of his extreme fear response. The humor comes from watching his over-the-top reactions to situations that others might find merely odd.
Story So Far: The Premise of Let’s Go Kaikigumi
The series follows a nameless protagonist who has been afraid of ghosts since childhood. He notices that ghost stories in his high school years are not as frightening as they used to be. This is because the previous leader of the Kaikigumi has passed away, and his daughter Mechako is still figuring out what scares humans.
When the protagonist meets Mechako, she realizes his extreme fear could help her revive the Kaikigumi to its former glory. He gets pulled into her plans against his will. From that point, strange but comical supernatural events start happening around him.
The show blends horror elements with comedy, often putting the protagonist in embarrassing or uncomfortable situations. The humor relies heavily on his exaggerated reactions and the ridiculousness of the supernatural events he encounters.

What to Expect in Episode 3
Episode 3 will likely continue the pattern of introducing new supernatural phenomena. The show’s comedic approach means viewers can expect more embarrassing and exaggerated situations for the protagonist.
The story so far has focused on the protagonist being forced to participate in the Kaikigumi’s revival. Each episode presents a new “strangeness” that Mechako and her team must investigate or create. The dynamic between the terrified protagonist and the confident Mechako drives much of the humor.
Given the series has 12 episodes planned, Episode 3 will probably introduce new characters or expand on existing ones. The cursed doll introduced in Episode 2 may play a larger role.
The show has received mixed early reactions. Some viewers enjoy the slapstick comedy and the protagonist’s dramatic fear responses. Others find certain jokes rely too heavily on gross-out humor. However, the series has found its audience among fans of supernatural comedies.
