The adult animated superhero series Invincible continues its fourth season on Prime Video with episode 5, titled Give Us a Moment. This 51-minute episode features intense emotional confrontations and brutal fight sequences. The episode sees the return of fan-favorite characters and introduces two new faces to the show. Jeffrey Dean Morgan‘s Conquest delivers one of the most shocking battles yet against Steven Yeun‘s Mark Grayson. Here is everything about the voice cast and characters in this week’s episode.
Steven Yeun Returns as Mark Grayson and Jeffrey Dean Morgan Brings Back Conquest
Steven Yeun has voiced Mark Grayson (also known as Invincible) since the show first aired in 2021. Over four seasons, Mark has survived multiple brutal fights. The season 3 finale showed Mark fighting Conquest, a high-ranking Viltrumite warrior. Episode 5 takes this battle even further. Conquest punches a hole through Mark’s body, leaving his future uncertain.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan voices Conquest. He first appeared in season 3. Fans have called Invincible a The Walking Dead reunion because Yeun and Morgan worked together on that show. Robert Kirkman, who created both the comic and the TV series, explained why he wanted Morgan for this role.
“I’m always trying to find roles for the actors that I know and love and want to work with again. When he started showing up on ‘The Boys,’ I couldn’t let Eric Kripke have all the fun. At some point, it became, ‘When we get to Conquest, Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be perfect for that.’ I didn’t hesitate just because there is the meta of it all like, ‘Oh, it’s the rematch between Glenn and Negan, and now Glenn gets to win.’ Something about it seemed fun and interesting.” – Robert Kirkman to Variety
J.K. Simmons and Sandra Oh Shine in Emotional Family Drama
J.K. Simmons voices Omni-Man (also known as Nolan Grayson). After less screen time in seasons 2 and 3, Nolan plays a bigger part in season 4. He returns to Earth to recruit Mark for the fight against the Viltrumite empire. He also wants to apologize to his ex-wife Debbie.
Sandra Oh voices Debbie Grayson. Her confrontation with Nolan became one of the most talked-about moments of the episode. Oh shared her experience recording this scene.
“I remember feeling lucky that J.K. had already done his lines, so I had his voice already. I also remember weeping through the entire thing. It happened very easily. When you have the ability to play a character for a long time, you don’t have to reach that far because you’ve already said it, or you’ve already lived it. Your character is already in you, and it ends up feeling earned. People are waiting for this moment, so you can kind of let it all out.” – Sandra Oh to Den of Geek
Christian Convery voices Oliver, Mark’s half-brother. Oliver was introduced in season 2 as a baby. Because of his alien DNA, he grows faster than humans. He is now a teenager in season 4.
New Characters Debut in Episode 5: Tech Jacket and Edward Thompson
Episode 5 marks the first appearance of Tech Jacket, also known as Zoe Thompson. Zoey Deutch provides the voice for this new hero. Tech Jacket first appeared briefly in season 3 as an armored hero fighting Mark’s evil variants. This episode confirms that a young girl named Zoe is inside the armor. The suit has its own AI, voiced by LeVar Burton.
Bobby Moynihan voices Edward Thompson, Zoe’s father. This marks the first time both characters appear in the series.
