The new romantic comedy K-drama Sold Out on You made its debut on April 22, 2026, bringing together Ahn Hyo-seop and Chae Won-bin in a story about work, pressure, and unexpected connections. The first episode sets up two different lives that are about to crash into each other.

Dam Ye-jin (Chae Won-bin) is a top home shopping host who lives for her job. But things fall apart quickly when she loses her prime-time slot. A single business deal then sends her away from the city and straight into the countryside, where she meets Matthew Lee (Ahn Hyo-seop), a farmer with his own secrets. The episode gives viewers a clear picture of why these two are perfect for a love story, even if they start off on the wrong foot.

A Daring Stunt and a Sudden Breakup

The episode opens with Ye-jin pulling off a dangerous live broadcast. She hangs off the side of Lux Tower, one of Korea’s tallest buildings, to prove that a pair of cleaning gloves actually works. The camera crew is scared, but Ye-jin stays completely focused. The gloves sell out, and she looks like a hero.

But her personal life is a different story. She rushes from work to meet her boyfriend Ui-seok for dinner. He is tired of always coming second to her job. She shows up late, and he ends things right there at the table. Ye-jin looks hurt for a moment, but then she notices the fancy knife the restaurant uses. Her mind immediately jumps to whether it could be a good product to sell. This quick shift shows how deeply her work has taken over her life.

Later, her friend and manager Uhm Sung-mi points out that Ye-jin never really stops working. Even her apartment is covered with notes about products and sales ideas. The episode also makes it clear that Ye-jin has serious trouble sleeping. She has suffered from insomnia for a long time, and she takes pills just to rest. Her doctor eventually refuses to give her more, saying she has reached the maximum dose.

Matthew Lee’s Quiet Life in the Countryside

While Ye-jin fights for success in the city, Matthew Lee lives a completely different life in the small village of Deokpung. He is a farmer, but he is also the CEO and chief researcher of Gojeuneok Bio, a company that grows rare white-flowered uri mushrooms used in cosmetics. The villagers call him Mechoori, and they know he has a prickly personality. But they also know he always helps them when they need it.

At the start of the episode, Matthew helps adjust a TV antenna for the senior center and gives a group of elders a ride on his tractor. The villagers describe how he has helped chop firewood, remove a beehive, and even help a cow give birth. Each time, Matthew insists it will be the last time he helps. But everyone knows that is not true.

Kang Mu-won (Yoon Byung-hee), Matthew’s business partner, calls him about a contract renewal. A French brand called L’Etoile wants to keep buying raw materials from Matthew’s company. But Matthew has already thrown the contract in the trash. He has no interest in renewing it, and no one seems to know why.

Ye-jin’s Hidden Trauma and Career Setback

Back in the city, Ye-jin gets bad news. Her prime-time slot has been given to Ji Yun-ji (Park Ah-in), a rival host who sells beauty products. The director at HIT tells Ye-jin clearly that she can only get her slot back if she brings in the French brand L’Etoile. The company has been trying to sign L’Etoile for a year with no success.

This request puts Ye-jin in a difficult position. The episode shows flashbacks of a troubling event from her past. She once sold a beauty cream with a woman named Song Myung-hwa (Woo Hee-jin). After the product launched, customers protested because it caused health problems. The incident clearly left a mark on Ye-jin. She now refuses to sell beauty products, and seeing Myung-hwa again at the office visibly shakes her.

The episode hints at a deeper connection between the two women. A flashback shows a picture of Myung-hwa with a man, holding a baby. There are hints that Myung-hwa could be Ye-jin’s mother, but the show has not confirmed this yet.

Eric Seo Arrives With a Condition

Eric Seo (Kim Bum) enters the picture as the executive director of L’Etoile. He has just arrived from France, and he is determined to renew the contract with Gojeuneok Bio. When he meets with Kang Mu-won, he is surprised to hear that the company does not want to renew. Mu-won tells him that the decision comes from someone else, but he does not explain who.

Eric then crosses paths with Ye-jin. He learns that she recently sent an offer to L’Etoile from HIT, and he becomes interested in her right away. He sets up a meeting, and during their conversation, he agrees to work with HIT. But there is one non-negotiable condition. Ye-jin must convince Gojeuneok Bio to renew their raw material contract with the French brand.

Ye-jin accepts without hesitation. She sees this as her only way back to the top. Eric promises to hold up his end once she completes the job. Neither of them knows yet that the person Ye-jin needs to convince is a stubborn farmer who has already said no.

The First Clash in the Countryside

The episode ends with Ye-jin driving to Deokpung Village to find the farm. She stays up all night doing research. She learns that the key ingredient in L’Etoile’s products is the WF mushroom, which only grows on Matthew’s farm.

When she arrives, she takes a wrong turn down a one-way street. Her car ends up face to face with Matthew’s tractor. Neither of them is willing to back up. The standoff is tense and awkward, and it sets the stage for the battles to come between the city workaholic and the stubborn countryside farmer.
