Scarlett Johansson, the former wife of Ryan Reynolds, has shared her thoughts on the ongoing legal issue between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. She described the timing of the lawsuit as “such weird timing,” especially as her first film as a director, Eleanor the Great, is nearing its release.
While Johansson isn’t personally tied to the legal battle, her movie received support from Wayfarer Studios, a company Baldoni co-founded. Wayfarer Studios is currently facing scrutiny due to the lawsuit related to Blake Lively‘s movie, It Ends With Us.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, published on May 14, Johansson touched upon this connection. She mentioned that while she didn’t meet Baldoni while making her film, her experience with his studio was positive.
They were super supportive throughout the process. But yeah, such weird timing.
She was referring to Wayfarer Studios’ involvement in the controversy surrounding It Ends With Us. Eleanor the Great, which also has backing from Sony Pictures Classics, is slated for release later in 2025.
In a related development, Steve Sarowitz, Baldoni‘s production partner and a significant figure in the organization, recently announced that the Wayfarer Foundation is ceasing its operations. He made this announcement on May 2 through a statement on Instagram.
Upon unanimous decision of the board of directors, today we will begin the process of sunsetting the Foundation.
Sarowitz assured that all existing grant commitments would be fulfilled and that the foundation’s operations would be carefully concluded.
Baldoni, 41, was a founding board member of the Wayfarer Foundation. The foundation’s mission was to “advance humankind spiritually towards a future peaceful world civilization” by supporting “spiritually rooted and justice-oriented nonprofits.”
