The final battle is almost here. Tite Kuboโs legendary anime series is preparing for its grand conclusion as BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 4โofficially titled The Calamityโunveiled a stunning new promotional video on May 19, 2026. The trailer confirms the animeโs return for July 2026, bringing the decade-spanning story of Ichigo Kurosaki to an end.
Fans have waited nearly 20 years for this moment. The original BLEACH anime ended in 2012 without adapting the final manga arc. Now, Studio Pierrot is pulling out all the stops for the final cour, promising expanded battles and new story elements that go beyond the original comic books.
New Trailer Shows Ichigoโs Final Showdown Against Yhwach
The newly released main trailer focuses heavily on the intense clash between Ichigo Kurosaki and Yhwach, the emperor of the Quincy army known as the Wandenreich. The nearly two-minute video opens with a tense standoff where neither fighter gives an inch, setting the tone for an action-packed conclusion.
But the trailer does not stop there. Fans get quick glimpses of several massive fights coming in this final season:
- Yoruichi Shihoin taking on Askin Nakk Le Vaar in a high-speed battle
- Kenpachi Zaraki unleashing his raw power against Gerard Valkyrie
- Toshiro Hitsugaya and Byakuya Kuchiki fighting side by side
- Uryu Ishida facing off against Jugram Haschwalth
The video ends with Ichigoโs desperate scream as he prepares to unleash his Bankai, leaving viewers counting the days until July.
The Calamity Serves as the Fourth and Final Season
BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War โ The Calamity marks the fourth and final cour of the anime adaptation. The first three parts aired between October 2022 and December 2024, covering the Quincy invasion of Soul Society and the ongoing war.
The story follows Ichigo, a teenager who gained Soul Reaper powers, as he fights to protect the world from Yhwach. The villain has now become something beyond even his own all-seeing ability called The Almighty. The final season asks whether despair or hope awaits at the end of this thousand-year conflict between Soul Reapers and Quincies.
Tomohisa Taguchi returns as chief director, with Hikaru Murata serving as director. Shiro Sagisu is back to compose the music, and the full voice cast will reprise their roles.

Creator Tite Kubo Adds New Content Beyond the Original Manga
Here is what makes this finale different from a normal anime adaptation. The original BLEACH manga ended in 2016 under difficult circumstances, and many fans felt the final battles wrapped up too quickly. Tite Kubo is now using the anime to tell the story the way he always wanted.
Kubo has been deeply involved in every part of the production. At Jump Festa 2025, he shared his excitement about the final cour.
โI’ve been deeply involved in every part of the production, and I’ve been part of everything, one way or another. I think it’s coming together quite nicely. Or ratherโฆ I’m honestly looking forward to it myself.โ โ Tite Kubo, Original Creator
Part 4 will adapt manga chapters 664 to 686, which is only about 23 chapters of material. For a 13-episode season, that means a large portion will be brand-new content. Expect expanded moments for characters like Chad and Ganju, who barely appeared in the mangaโs ending. The anime will also pull from BLEACHโs light novels to fill gaps the original comic rushed through.

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War โ The Calamity will stream on Disney+ for international audiences and Hulu for viewers in the United States. The series will also air on TV Tokyo in Japan.
