Lestat Becomes a Rock Star to Tell His Side of the Story

The plot of The Vampire Lestat picks up after the events of Season 2. Lestat feels angry about how he was portrayed in Louis’s bestselling book, Interview With the Vampire. Instead of writing another book, Lestat decides to form a rock band and go on tour. As the band travels from city to city, he remembers his pastโ€”his human life in 18th-century France, his turning by Magnus, his relationship with his mother Gabrielle, and his time with the ancient vampire Marius.

“This season is about Lestat reclaiming his voice. It’s louder, bolder, and completely unhinged in the best way.” – Showrunner Rolin Jones

Showrunner Rolin Jones explained at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 that the rebrand from Interview With the Vampire to The Vampire Lestat makes sense because the story now belongs entirely to Lestat. The season adapts Anne Rice’s 1985 novel The Vampire Lestat, the second book in The Vampire Chronicles series.

Streaming Options for International Audiences

For viewers in the United States and Canada, the show airs on AMC and streams on AMC+. Cord-cutters can also watch through Philo, DIRECTV, and Sling. For viewers in India, Australia, and other international markets, AMC+ is available as a streaming option.

Netflix has also secured a licensing deal with AMC. Interview With the Vampire Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Netflix in select international markets. The Vampire Lestat (Season 3) will arrive on Netflix in those same markets after it finishes airing on AMC. This gives international fans another way to catch up on the series.

What to Expect From the Rock Concert Aesthetic

The opening credits for The Vampire Lestat have already been released, and they lean heavily into the rock star theme. The credits feature vintage microphones, moody backstage lighting, and Lestat in full performance mode. The show has been a massive hit for AMC. The first season ranked as the number one new series launch ever for AMC+. The series has also spawned a spin-off, Anne Rice’s Talamasca, which premiered earlier this year.

Fans of the books already know that Lestat’s rock career plays a major role in the later Vampire Chronicles novels. The music allows Lestat to reach a massive audience and tell his story his own way. It also brings him into conflict with older vampires who prefer to stay hidden.

Episode Titles Reveal a Tour Across America

The first four episode titles follow a clear pattern. They are all named after cities: Detroit, Toledo, Toronto, and The Devil’s Road (a reference to a highway stretch). This matches the show’s description of Lestat and his band going on tour across North America. Each city stop likely triggers memories from Lestat’s long life, allowing the show to jump between the present-day tour and flashbacks to his human days, his turning, and his adventures across Europe.
