BLACKPINK's Jennie Wins Court Case Against Man Who Falsely Claimed to Be Her Father; Court Orders Book Destruction

BLACKPINK member Jennie Kim has won a major legal victory against a man who falsely claimed to be her biological father. A South Korean court ruled his claims were completely false and ordered all copies of his book promoting the lie to be destroyed.

The Uijeongbu District Court Goyang Branch made the ruling on May 9, 2025, but the news became public in June after being reported by Korean magazine Woman Sense. The court stated there was no evidence supporting the manโ€™s claims, while official records show Jennieโ€™s father is someone else.

The man, identified only as “A”, wrote a book using AI-generated content, claiming Jennie was his daughter. He even used BLACKPINKโ€™s logo and Jennieโ€™s name on the cover without permission. The book spread false rumors about Jennieโ€™s family background, causing damage to her reputation.

Jennieโ€™s agency, OA Entertainment (formerly ODD ATELIER), took legal action in September 2024, denying the claims. They filed an official lawsuit in December 2024, demanding the book be banned and the man stop spreading lies. The court agreed, ordering all copies of the book to be destroyed.

The man is now banned from mentioning Jennie in any way, including on social media, interviews, or public statements. He must also delete all existing posts about her. However, the court did not fine him because the case was about reputation damage, not money.

This case highlights the dangers of fake news and AI-generated misinformation, especially when targeting celebrities. Jennie has always kept her family life private, and this legal win protects her from false claims.

Jennie is currently preparing for BLACKPINKโ€™s 2025 world tour, Deadline, starting July 5 in Goyang, South Korea. She recently appeared on Hot Ones, a popular YouTube show, where she discussed her music and career.

“There is no supporting evidence for the defendantโ€™s claim aside from his own statements,” the court said. “The plaintiffโ€™s official family registry clearly identifies another man as her father.”

Jennieโ€™s fans, called Blinks, celebrated the courtโ€™s decision online. Many praised her for standing up against false rumors. Others warned about the risks of AI-generated fake stories.

This is not the first time a K-pop star has faced false family claims. In the past, other idols have dealt with similar rumors, but legal action helps stop the spread of lies.

Jennie has never publicly spoken about her father but has shared moments with her mother on special occasions. Her agency has always protected her privacy, taking strong action against misinformation.

The courtโ€™s decision sets an example for handling false claims in the digital age. It also reminds fans to verify information before believing online rumors.
