Fans of the bloody animated series Marvel Zombies are eagerly waiting to hear if the show will get a second season. The first season, which arrived on Disney+ on September 24, 2025, dropped four intense episodes that ended with a major cliffhanger. While Marvel Studios has not yet made an official announcement, key people behind the scenes have confirmed that plans and ideas for more episodes are ready to go.

The future of the series largely depends on how many people watch the show on Disney+. According to Marvel executives, strong viewership is the key to greenlighting a second season.

The Official Status from Marvel

Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Marvel Television, has been clear about what needs to happen for the show to continue. He stated that the team is excited and prepared to make more episodes, but the decision hinges on audience support.

“Please, like, people have got to subscribe to Disney+ and watch this show. If that happens, they will get more. And we are excited. Weโ€™re ready,” Winderbaum told Comicbook.com.

This means that streaming the first season on Disney+ is the most direct way for fans to show their support for a renewal. The series is considered an experiment for Marvel as its first TV-MA rated animated project, and its success will determine if the studio continues investing in mature animated content.

Ideas and Plans for a Second Season

The creative team already has a direction for where the story could go next. Director Bryan Andrews revealed that he and Winderbaum have already mapped out how a second season would begin. Their original concept was even more ambitious, imagining a version of the apocalypse set far in the future.

“Our original idea was more medieval fantasy. It was set so far after the different kingdoms, fiefdoms and ruling factions have grownโ€ฆ Brad wisely said people want to see their favorites and not see them so crazy. We rolled it back and didnโ€™t time-jump so far forward,” Andrews shared with Variety.

Andrews also mentioned that there is “so much material” that didn’t make it into the first season, including stories for characters that fans noticed were absent. This suggests that a second season could explore these unused ideas and introduce new characters.

How the First Season Sets Up a New Chapter

The finale of the first season left the story wide open for continuation. Kamala Khan is revealed to be the sole survivor among the Avengers, but her victory is questionable. The ending shows her awakening in what appears to be an alternate reality, implying that the threat of the zombie virus is far from over.

Another unresolved mystery is the fate of RiRi Williams, who was bitten in the first episode but did not turn into a zombie. Additionally, the powerful zombie version of the Scarlet Witch, now enhanced with the powers of the Infinity Hulk, remains a massive threat. These plot points provide a clear pathway for a second season to explore.

Fan Reaction and Demand

Since its release, fans have taken to social media to express their strong desire for more episodes. Many have praised the show’s action and unique tone, calling it a fresh take within the Marvel animated world. This positive fan engagement is a crucial factor that Marvel executives are watching closely.

The show’s TV-MA rating allowed for a more intense and gritty style that resonated with adult audiences. Its success could lead to more mature-focused projects from Marvel Animation in the future.

Potential New Characters and Stories

The multiverse setting of Marvel Zombies gives writers the freedom to introduce almost any character from the Marvel universe. The first season did not include popular groups like the Fantastic Four or the X-Men, but Andrews has hinted that this could change.

“I would have loved to have them inโ€ฆ But, I mean, never say never. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m hoping, if thereโ€™s a second season around, there are already a few ideas of, like, can we get extra crazy? So who knows,” Andrews commented.

This opens the possibility for fans to see their favorite heroes and villains in zombie form or as desperate survivors in a future season.
