George Gilbert has been removed from the Big Brother UK house. The 23-year-old parish councillor was eliminated after repeatedly using unacceptable language, despite receiving multiple formal warnings from producers. The removal shocked his fellow housemates, with Sam Ashby later sharing, “I can’t believe it but, I don’t feel sad about it.”
The Official Removal from the House
The event unfolded when Big Brother summoned George to the Diary Room after he had gone to bed. He was woken up and told, “This better be good. I was in a deep sleep there,” before receiving the news of his removal.
Big Brother stated to George: “Before you entered the Big Brother house the rules regarding unacceptable and offensive language and behaviour were explained to you. Big Brother has warned you on several separate occasions about your language including issuing you with a formal warning. Despite prior warnings and the opportunities we have given you to adjust your language in the house, you have persisted in using offensive language. As a result Big Brother has no choice but to remove you from the house.”
The statement further clarified that the removal was due to his “repeated use of offensive language in the house including during yesterday’s conversation,” which was deemed “unacceptable” and potentially offensive to both housemates and the public.
In response, George told Big Brother, “Coming into this house I always wanted to question any theory or movement. I just want to know the truth about things. I’m sorry that this decision has been made and I’m gutted. But if that’s what you want to do there’s no point me trying to convince you otherside. Sorry it’s ended like this.”
Housemates React to the Sudden Exit
Following the announcement, the other housemates were asked to pack George’s belongings. As they gathered his items, they discussed their mixed feelings about his departure.
Sam was direct in their reaction, noting they couldn’t believe the elimination but weren’t upset by it. Jenny commented that it wasn’t fair, but added that George should not have been “such a w*ncker,” a remark that made Sam and others laugh.
Other housemates expressed more nuanced views. Feyisola agreed with Jenny’s assessment that George wasn’t a bad person, stating, “As a person, he wasn’t (bad), and that’s what I’ve been saying the whole time. He’s not a bad person at all.”
Teja pointed out the contradiction in George’s behavior, noting, “I know what his experience meant to him and that he really, he did want to be here. But then again, if you did want to be here, why do you keep on?” She also emphasized that George had received “big warnings” from Big Brother, a point that Jenny strongly agreed with.
History of Warnings and Controversial Moments
George’s removal on October 8, 2025 followed several earlier incidents that had prompted warnings from Big Brother. While the specific comments that led to his final ejection were not broadcast, ITV stated they violated broadcasting standards. Reports indicated the remarks could be interpreted as antisemitic and were made during a conversation about “conspiracy theories.”
One of the most significant prior incidents occurred during a game of Truth or Dare, where George was asked to name each housemate’s worst quality. When discussing Sam, George mimicked Sam’s voice and used physical gestures that included limp wrists, in a portrayal that mocked Sam’s mannerisms.
The incident deeply affected Sam, who later told Big Brother in the Diary Room that the impression made him feel “back in school again,” adding that George had mocked him “as if I have some kind of disability.” The laughter from other male housemates during the incident reminded Sam of homophobic abuse he faced at school.
After this event, Big Brother issued George a formal warning for “unacceptable” language and behavior. When asked if he understood how his actions could be offensive, George responded, “We did have a conversation about this. Sam pulled me to one side. I have apologised. I don’t want to make anyone feel like that, so I will be walking on eggshells around Sam from here on in.”
Pattern of Controversial Views
Throughout his time in the house, George expressed several contentious opinions that created tension with other housemates. In one discussion about the Pixar film Lightyear, he described a lesbian kiss in the children’s movie as “pornography” and accused filmmakers of “ramming” political ideology “down the throat” of viewers.
He argued, “They’re trying to hijack children’s films and putting political messages in it.” When Zelah responded that he wouldn’t be saying the same if it was a straight couple, George insisted he would, maintaining that such content didn’t belong in children’s films.
George also shared controversial views on homelessness, suggesting that people must take responsibility for their financial situations, and claimed that most people who shoplift are driven by greed rather than desperation. In another discussion, he stated that the United Kingdom needed to “restore the British identity,” which led Zelah, whose mother is from India, to later tell Big Brother that he had “never had his Britishness questioned like that.”
George’s Statement on His Removal
After his removal from the show, George released a statement addressing his elimination. He described himself as a “flag bearer of freedom of speech” and suggested that offensive boundaries are subjective.
“As a flag bearer of freedom of speech, I never hesitate to discuss and question any topic regardless of how contentious it may be,” George stated. “Sadly, the boundaries of what is deemed offensive are subjective, and I evidently went too far this time by crossing their line one too many times.”
He expressed disappointment that “specific debate could not be had” and that his time in the house ended the way it did, concluding with the dramatic phrase, “Infamy, infamy, they’ve all got it in for me.”
Life in the House Continues
With George’s removal, the remaining housemates continue their time in the Big Brother house. The Friday eviction proceeded as planned, though details were adjusted following his unexpected departure. Big Brother UK Season 22 continues to air on ITV2 and ITVX, offering viewers ongoing drama and developments from the famous house.
