The first look at Invincible Season 4 is here, confirming the hit animated series will return to Prime Video in March 2026. The teaser trailer, which playfully addresses a long-running fan joke, was revealed at New York Comic Con alongside the major news that actor Lee Pace is joining the cast as the formidable villain Thragg.
The Teaser Trailer and Its Meta Moment
The new teaser trailer features Mark Grayson (Invincible) and his girlfriend, Atom Eve, sitting in a booth at a diner that has been completely wrecked, seemingly from their recent battles. The setting allows for a self-referential moment that long-time fans will appreciate. Mark is seen telling Eve, โCan you believe people used to complain that I could never win a fight?โ He then goes on to list his recent victories, stating he fought other versions of himself and โkicked Conquestโs ass.โ The teaser ends with Mark breaking the fourth wall and declaring, โSeason 4 is nuts!โ
This moment directly tackles the popular fan observation that Mark often endures brutal beatings in his fights rather than achieving clean wins. The teaser suggests a more confident Mark, though the ruined diner hints that challenges are never far away.
A New Villain Enters the Fray: Lee Pace as Thragg
One of the biggest announcements from the panel was the casting for the show’s next major antagonist. Lee Pace, known for roles such as Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy and Brother Day in Foundation, will voice Thragg.
An official description of the character states he is โone of the comicโs most enduring and imposing villains.โ As the Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire, Thragg rules through “strength, cruelty, and will” and is โdetermined to restore Viltrum to its previous glory at any cost.โ In the original comic books, Thragg is one of the most powerful and ruthless adversaries Mark Grayson ever faces.
Where Season 3 Left Off
The upcoming season has a lot of ground to cover following the explosive events of Season 3. The season finale saw Mark surviving the “Invincible War,” where multiverse villain Angstrom Levy attacked Earth with an army of evil Marks from other dimensions. Immediately after that battle, Mark and Eve were forced into a ferocious fight with the deranged Viltrumite Conquest.
In a twist, Eve discovered the seemingly limitless nature of her powers, healing herself from fatal injuries and managing to subdue Conquest. Mark then delivered the final blow. The season ended with several cliffhangers: it was revealed that Angstrom Levy survived by teleporting to another universe, and that Cecil Stedman is secretly keeping Conquest alive and imprisoned to extract information. Additionally, the threat of an alien Sequid army still looms.
The Road to the Viltrumite War
With the introduction of Thragg, the series is moving closer to adapting one of the most famous storylines from the comics, known as The Viltrumite War. This arc involves a massive, galaxy-spanning conflict between the Viltrum Empire and the Coalition of Planets, a resistance group that includes Mark, his father Omni-Man, and Allen the Alien.
Based on the source material, Season 4 is expected to focus heavily on the preparations for and the execution of this final war. This suggests that a significant portion of the season could take place in outer space, shifting the scope of the show to its largest scale yet. Creator Robert Kirkman has also confirmed that the show will include original storylines not seen in the comics, including a plot involving the demonic detective Damien Darkblood.
Record-Breaking Success and Future
Invincible continues to be a major success for Prime Video. The show’s third season, which aired in early 2025, broke records to become the platform’s most-watched animated season ever. Its popularity has already secured an early renewal for a fifth season, confirming that the story of Mark Grayson will continue beyond the next chapter.
The voice cast, including Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson and J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, is expected to return. The series is produced by Skybound Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios.
Invincible Season 4 is set to premiere on Prime Video in March 2026.
