The Straw Hat Pirates have officially set a course for your screens. Netflix has announced that the live-action One Piece: Into the Grand Line, also known as Season 2, will premiere globally on March 10, 2026. The announcement came with the first photos of one of the new season’s most important locations: the snow-covered Drum Island.

Release Date and New Adventures

Fans can mark their calendars for March 10, 2026, when One Piece: Into the Grand Line will begin streaming on Netflix. After the massive success of the first season, the show’s creators are taking the adventure to the next level.

The new season will see Luffy and his crew finally enter the Grand Line, the legendary and dangerous sea they have been striving to reach. The official story description promises “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet” as the crew journeys through this unpredictable realm. Co-showrunner Joe Tracz stated that the team’s goal for this season was to increase the scale of everything, promising that audiences will “see giants and dinosaurs” and even end up “in the belly of a whale.”

A First Look at Drum Island

The newly released images give fans a live-action glimpse of Drum Island, a key location from the original manga and anime. The island is known for its endless winter and is a major stop on the Straw Hats’ journey.

“Drum Kingdom is a winter island,” said co-showrunner Joe Tracz. “It’s our medieval Winterfell Game of Thrones location, where you have this haunted-seeming castle at the top of a snowy mountain inhabited by someone the villagers say is a witch.”

Filming in Cape Town, South Africa, presented a challenge for creating a winter landscape. The production team brought in “piles and piles of fake snow” to transform the summer set into a convincing frozen kingdom.

The Journey Through the Grand Line

Season 2 will adapt several beloved story arcs from Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. The Straw Hats’ voyage will take them through multiple new and bizarre islands. Their journey includes Loguetown, the site of the former Pirate King Gold Roger’s execution; Reverse Mountain, the treacherous entrance to the Grand Line; the bounty hunter-filled Whiskey Peak; the prehistoric Little Garden; and the wintry Drum Island.

These locations will introduce a host of new characters and test the bonds of the crew. Tracz explained that every island the crew visits will challenge one of the Straw Hats in a unique way, forcing them to rely on each other to achieve their dreams.

A Growing Cast of Characters

The core cast, including Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji, will all return for the new season.

They will be joined by a long list of new actors bringing fan-favorite characters to life. Key additions include Mikaela Hoover as the reindeer doctor Tony Tony Chopper, Joe Manganiello as the sinister crime boss Mr. 0, and Katey Sagal as the doctor Kureha. The cast also features Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra, and Callum Kerr and Julia Rehwald as the Marine officers Smoker and Tashigi.

Production and Future

Filming for the second season has already been completed in Cape Town, South Africa. Series creator Eiichiro Oda visited the set during production, meeting with both returning and new cast members. He noted that the vibe on set was positive and that the cast selections, which he approved from Japan, were “absolutely the perfect choice.”

The show’s future is already secured, as Netflix has confirmed that a third season is also in development. This gives fans the assurance that the live-action adventure of the Straw Hat Pirates will continue beyond the upcoming season. As the crew sails into the Grand Line, their biggest and most exciting challenges are just beginning.
