Masters of the Universe hit theaters on June 5, 2026, and director Travis Knight packed the movie with surprises for fans of the 1980s franchise. Nicholas Galitzine stars as Prince Adam who transforms into He-Man, with Jared Leto as the villain Skeletor and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms. The film currently holds a 70% critics score and an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. But the real talking points come after the main story ends. The movie has three post-credits scenes that tease major characters and set up where a sequel could go. Here is everything that happens and what it means for the future.
Orko Finally Appears in the First Post-Credit Scene
The first scene appears relatively early after director Travis Knight’s credit. Orko, the floating magical sidekick from the original animated series, finally makes his live-action debut. The CGI character speaks directly to the camera about the film’s message. He tells audiences, “In today’s story, we saw muscles don’t necessarily make a man.” Orko was created solely for the 1986 cartoon and was noticeably absent from the 1987 live-action film. He is voiced by British actor Christopher Ragland. For longtime fans, this moment is a fun piece of nostalgia. For new viewers, a floating figure with his face hidden behind a hat and scarf might seem strange. The scene works as a final gag, especially for those who remember Orko giving moral lessons at the end of cartoon episodes. Knight reportedly kept Orko out of the main movie because adding another magical character alongside the Sorceress would have been too much.
She-Ra, the Princess of Power, Gets Her Own Tease
The second scene, which plays during the mid-credits, is much bigger. Queen Marlena (played by Charlotte Riley), Adam’s mother, tells Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), “I’d given up hope… Perhaps one day she’ll come back to us too.” She is talking about Adam’s long-lost twin sister, Adora, who becomes She-Ra. The scene then cuts to the planet Etheria, where a warrior approaches a figure and asks, “Force Captain Adora?” The woman responds, “No, not anymore.” Her Sword of Protection glows fiercely on screen.
In the original franchise, Adora was kidnapped as a baby by Hordak, Skeletor’s mentor, and raised to become a Force Captain in the Evil Horde. Years later, He-Man helped her learn the truth about her past, and she wielded the Sword of Protection to become She-Ra. This movie suggests Adora has already discovered the truth and rejected the Horde on her own. Her face is barely visible, but she wears the white and gold outfit fans recognize. Australian actor Lauren Saliu confirmed her casting as She-Ra in a now-deleted Instagram post. She wrote that she was “excited to finally share” the role and “had so much fun embodying She-Ra the Princess of Power.” If a sequel happens, She-Ra will likely reunite with her brother and face Hordak as the main villain.
Skeletor’s Skull Gets Retrieved by Evil-Lyn
The final post-credits scene brings back the film’s standout villain. At the end of the movie, He-Man seemingly destroys Skeletor (Jared Leto), leaving only his lifeless skull behind. But Evil-Lyn (played by Alison Brie) returns to the battlefield to retrieve her master’s head. She looks at the skull and says, “I must say, you’ve looked better.” The screen cuts to black, and Skeletor’s maniacal laugh plays.
This scene makes it clear that Skeletor is not gone for good. Evil-Lyn will likely find a way to bring him back to life. Leto’s performance as Skeletor has been called a highlight of the entire film. His campy, eccentric take on the character fits the tone of the movie perfectly. Forcing Skeletor to team up with He-Man and She-Ra against a common enemy like Hordak would be an interesting direction for a sequel. The tease confirms that Amazon MGM Studios wants this to be a multi-movie franchise.
What the Ending Means for a Potential Sequel
The main story of Masters of the Universe ends on a positive note. The heroes restore Eternia, and Adam fully accepts his role as He-Man. King Randor dies during the final battle, so Adam now rules the kingdom. Roboto gets repaired by Duncan. Adam even brings his Earth roommate Hussien to visit Eternia, showing how technology now bridges the two worlds.
The film does not resolve the romantic tension between Adam and Teela (played by Camila Mendes). They get close during the movie, but Teela pulls back. A sequel would almost certainly push them toward a real relationship. Director Travis Knight has said he is eager to continue the franchise but acknowledges that nothing is confirmed yet. He says a sequel is “up to the world” and depends on audiences and Amazon.
