Recently, HYBE removed copyright claims on BTS V’s fan cams, following widespread demand from fans. The issue began when many of V’s fan cams, with millions of views, were taken down from YouTube. Fans quickly took to social media to express frustration, launching the trending hashtag “Taehyung is BTS too” on Twitter. After immense public pressure, HYBE responded by lifting the copyright claims, and the videos are now back online.
Fans Notice Copyright Issues with V’s Fan Cams
The controversy started when fans discovered that many of V’s fan cams, some with over a million views, had been removed from YouTube due to copyright claims. Fan cams are a significant part of the K-pop culture, giving international fans who can’t attend concerts the chance to watch performances. The removal of these videos was seen as a big blow to fans, as these clips help expand an artist’s global audience.
A popular YouTube channel, MOMBO, revealed on September 6 that the videos had been restored. The channel had previously received notifications about the copyright claims, which led to the removal of V’s videos. With HYBE’s recent action, the fan cams are now accessible again.
#TaehyungIsBTSToo Trends on Twitter
On September 5, fans took to Twitter (now X) to voice their concerns, causing “Taehyung is BTS too” to trend. Fans accused HYBE of treating V (Kim Taehyung) unfairly by removing only his fan cams, despite their original upload dates being years old. The hashtag quickly gained traction, with more than 65,000 tweets within just a day, and it became a hot topic within the K-pop community.
Fans also speculated about potential mistreatment, urging HYBE to provide a clear explanation. Although the company has now restored most of the videos, some fan cams are still unavailable, and fans are continuing to push for a full resolution.
“HYBE needs to treat all BTS members equally. V is as much part of BTS as anyone else,” one fan commented on Twitter.
“We demand all fan cams be reinstated, not just some. It’s not fair to delete his content,” another fan expressed on social media.
ARMYs Still Pushing for Action
While many of the fan cams have been restored, fans remain vigilant. The ARMY is still trending the hashtag and calling on HYBE to act swiftly. They have even sent emails to the company, asking for immediate attention to the remaining videos that have not been reinstated.
V’s Recent Work and Military Service
On the professional front, V made a solo comeback in March 2024 with his digital single titled FRI(END)S, which was a commercial hit. The song helped further solidify his status as a successful soloist.
Currently, V is fulfilling his mandatory military service, which is set to end in June 2025. Once discharged, he is expected to reunite with his BTS bandmates to resume group activities. Fans are eagerly awaiting his return and hope to see more of V’s solo work in the near future.
