James Gunn, the director of the highly anticipated Superman: Legacy, has debunked a rumor that the film has a massive budget of $364 million, making it one of the most expensive superhero movies ever made.

The rumor was sparked by an article that claimed to have insider information about the production of the film, which is set to kick off the rebooted DC Universe after The Flash resets the timeline. The article stated that Superman: Legacy would surpass the budget of Justice League, which cost $300 million, and would only be second to Avengers: Age of Ultron, which had a reported cost of over $444 million.

However, Gunn dismissed the rumor as false when a fan asked him about it on Threads, a social media platform. Gunn replied, “Absolutely not. How in the world do they think they know what our budget is?”

Superman: Legacy will feature a new cast and a new story for the Man of Steel.

Superman: Legacy is expected to be released on July 11, 2025, as the first official film of the new DC Universe. The film will follow Clark Kent, a young reporter in Metropolis, as he reconciles his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing and becomes the embodiment of truth, justice, and a brighter tomorrow in a world that views kindness as old-fashioned.
