The Final Five Couples

The finale featured the five couples who survived the competition and made it to the final night.

  • Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy
  • Robert Irwin and Witney Carson
  • Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach
  • Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten
  • Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa

These pairs competed across three demanding rounds to prove they had what it takes to be champions.

The Finale Dance Routines and Songs

The finalists performed a variety of dances selected by the judges and their own freestyle creations.

Judges’ Choice Round

In this round, the judges selected a final new ballroom or Latin dance for each couple to master.

  • Alix and Val: Samba to “Hip Hip Chin Chin” by Club des Belugas (chosen by Carrie Ann Inaba).
  • Robert and Witney: Quickstep to “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?” by Jet (chosen by Derek Hough).
  • Dylan and Daniella: Paso Doble to “Stampede” by Alexander Jean featuring Lindsey Stirling (chosen by Bruno Tonioli).
  • Elaine and Alan: Rumba to “Take My Breath Away” by Jae Hall (chosen by Derek Hough).
  • Jordan and Ezra: Paso Doble to “Breakin’ Dishes” by Rihanna (chosen by Carrie Ann Inaba).

Freestyle Round

The freestyle round is a fan favorite where anything goes, and the couples showcased their creativity with these song choices.

  • Alix and Val: A routine set to a mashup of “Maneater” by Nelly Furtado and “Sports car” by Tate McRae.
  • Robert and Witney: A performance to “Black & Gold” by Sam Sparro and “The Nights” by Avicii.
  • Dylan and Daniella: A dance to “Something in the Heavens” by Lewis Capaldi.
  • Elaine and Alan: A routine set to “I Hope I Get It (from A Chorus Line).”
  • Jordan and Ezra: A performance to “Motivation” by Normani.

The Instant Dance Challenge

The couples also faced a tough Instant Dance Challenge. For this round, they did not know their song or dance style ahead of time. They found out only minutes before having to perform it live on air, testing their ability to improvise and perform under pressure.

A Night of Special Performances

The finale was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of the entire season. All the eliminated contestants returned to the ballroom for group performances. The night also featured a special opening number choreographed by Joey Pizzi to “Never Can Say Goodbye” by the Communards.

Season 33 winners Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson returned to perform a dance set to “Tanguera” by Fabio Hager Sexteto. The professional dancers slated for the “DWTS Live 2026 Tour” also performed a routine.

The Secret to Season 34’s Success

This season has been a major success for the long-running show, with ratings and audience engagement reaching new heights. According to showrunner Conrad Green and casting director Deena Katz, the show’s resurgence is partly due to embracing modern celebrities and social media.

“If you want to grow as a show and audience, you have to be willing to open up to different ideas of what celebrity is,” said Katz. “For some people, Alix Earle is the biggest star we’ve ever had on the show, because that is their world.”

The organic social media activity from the cast, especially from pro dancers like Rylee Arnold and Ezra Sosa, helped bring a new, younger audience to the show. Green noted that this was not a forced strategy but something the cast did naturally.

“We don’t arm twist people into doing it. I think a lot of the couples see it in their benefit to be part of that conversation,” Green explained.

The competition uses a 50/50 voting system, where the outcome is determined equally by the judges’ scores and the votes from the viewing public at home.
