Netflix has shown the first poster for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, confirming the live-action series will return in 2026. The official teaser trailer for the new season is set to arrive tomorrow. The poster gives fans their first look at the expanded cast and hints at the new challenges Aang and his friends will face in the Earth Kingdom. With filming for the second and third seasons already finished, this marks the start of the promotional campaign for the show’s next chapter.

The New Season 2 Poster and What It Shows

The released poster features the main characters standing together under a dramatic sky. A key highlight is the first official image of actress Miya Cech as the fan-favorite character Toph Beifong. Toph is a master earthbender who is blind and uses her bending to sense the world around her. Her arrival is a major moment for the story, as Aang needs an earthbending teacher to continue his Avatar training.

The poster clearly announces the show’s return with a 2026 release window on Netflix. Netflix renewed the series for both its second and third seasons in March 2024, planning to conclude Aang’s live-action story. The poster’s release is a strong signal that Netflix is moving forward with its plan to finish the series.

“Weโ€™re looking forward to working with all of our actors again and digging into the deeper, more complicated relationships that develop as their journey continues in Season 2,” executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani said.

Aang’s Journey Into the Earth Kingdom and New Cast Members

The story for Book Two: Earth will see Aang, Katara, and Sokka traveling through the Earth Kingdom. Their main goal is to find an earthbending master for Aang, which leads them to Toph. Meanwhile, Prince Zuko and his uncle Iroh are now fugitives from the Fire Nation, and Zuko’s sister, Princess Azula, is hunting them.

The new season will introduce many characters from the animated series. The confirmed new cast members for Season 2 include:

  • Miya Cech as Toph Beifong
  • Chin Han as Long Feng
  • Justin Chien as King Kuei
  • Dichen Lachman as Avatar Yangchen
  • Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong
  • Lily Gao as Ursa
  • Dolly de Leon as Lo and Li

All the main actors from the first season are returning, including Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko.

Production Is Complete, With Seasons 2 and 3 Filmed Together

Production on the new seasons has already finished. Netflix filmed Season 2 and Season 3 back-to-back under the working title “Diner Bear”. Filming began in October 2024 and wrapped in May 2025. This approach allows the entire story to be filmed continuously, which can help with consistency in the actors’ performances and the overall production quality.

The actors prepared intensely for the new seasons. Ian Ousley mentioned the cast was in “boot camp,” training with weapons and doing physical conditioning. Dallas Liu also said he focused on spending more time stretching to prepare his body for the role.

What to Expect From the Upcoming Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer dropping tomorrow will give the first moving look at the new season. Fans can expect to see glimpses of the live-action versions of key locations from the Earth Kingdom, such as the giant city of Ba Sing Se and the mysterious Foggy Swamp. It will also likely showcase the improved bending special effects and new costumes.

Based on the original animated series, major story points for Season 2 will involve Aang learning to earthbend from Toph and the group’s adventures in Ba Sing Se, where they uncover a conspiracy within the city’s government. The conflict with Azula, who is now joined by her friends Mai and Ty Lee, will also escalate.

The wait for the new season will be a long one, but the poster and imminent trailer are the first steps in building excitement. The 2026 release date means fans have over a year to speculate and rewatch before the Gaang returns to screens.
