The Central Couple: Mel and Jack’s Journey to the Altar

At the heart of Season 6 is the culmination of Mel and Jack’s love story. Alexandra Breckenridge returns as Melinda “Mel” Monroe, the nurse practitioner who found a new home and family in the remote town. This season, Mel is deep in wedding planning while also navigating a fragile new relationship with her estranged father, Everett Reid, who holds a significant secret. Simultaneously, she is supporting Lizzie through her pregnancy and helping Hope with a rescue horse.

“There’s so many feelings about Mel and Jack finally getting married, I don’t even know where to start!” Breckenridge said on set. “It’s a huge wedding.”

Her partner in life and now in wedding plans is Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan. The former Marine and bar owner is focused on fixing up the farmhouse he and Mel bought at the end of Season 5, all while worrying about his best friend Preacher’s upcoming murder trial. Henderson also stepped behind the camera this season, making his directorial debut on one of the episodes. Jack continues to grapple with his PTSD, and a visit from a young friend forces him to confront his own military past in new ways.

The Town’s Foundational Couple: Hope and Doc

The other enduring love story in Virgin River belongs to the town’s mayor and its doctor. Annette O’Toole is back as the spirited Hope McCrea. “Getting to look at a different romantic relationship, but still in the world of Virgin River, is exciting,” said showrunner Patrick Sean Smith. “To get to see another couple in the same universe dealing with the ups and downs of a love story just feels like a fresh opportunity.”

Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) plays young Sarah, Mel’s mother. Described as a witty free spirit and activist from the city, she meets Everett while hitchhiking.
Callum Kerr (ONE PIECE) plays young Everett Reid. He is a handsome, freewheeling singer-songwriter traveling in a VW van whose life changes when he picks up a hitchhiker.

Additional new characters include Elise Gatien as Lark, Brady’s manipulative girlfriend who is secretly working with the criminal Jimmy, and Ian Tracey, who returns as the shady Jimmy.
