The oil fields of West Texas are getting ready for another wild ride as Landman gears up for its third season. Following a game-changing second season finale that saw Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris fired and then starting his own company, fans are eager to know which familiar faces will be back for the new episodes. While the core Norris family is locked in, the future looks less certain for some major characters from the corporate world of M-Tex Oil.
Paramount+ officially renewed the hit Taylor Sheridan drama in December 2025, riding high on record viewership. With production aiming to start in the spring for a likely November 2026 release, here is a complete breakdown of every major character’s status for the upcoming season.
Confirmed to Return: The Core Cast Is Back
The heart of Landmanโthe Norris familyโwill remain front and center. Billy Bob Thornton is confirmed to return as the show’s lead, crisis man Tommy Norris. Thornton has been vocal about his long-term commitment, having initially signed for four or five seasons and stating he will stay “as long as I’m able”.
His on-screen family is also set to return. Ali Larter will reprise her role as Tommy’s ex-wife and partner, Angela. Their son, Jacob Lofland’s character Cooper, and daughter, Michelle Randolph’s character Ainsley, are confirmed to continue their journeys. Ainsley’s storyline, in particular, is poised for growth. Randolph told InStyle, “Iโm really excited to see where she goes in season 3, because I think that itโs going to satisfy my desire for her to grow up”.
Rounding out the family business is the beloved Sam Elliott as T.L., Tommy’s father. Elliott confirmed his return, expressing excitement about the new season. Other key supporting characters coming back include lawyer Rebecca Falcone (Kayla Wallace) and Tommy’s right-hand man Dale (James Jordan).
Uncertain Futures: Key Roles Hanging in the Balance
The most prominent question mark hangs over Demi Moore’s character, Cami Miller. After firing Tommy in the season two finale, her role in the new storyline is unclear. Co-creator Christian Wallace was notably non-committal when asked about her return, putting the decision squarely on Taylor Sheridan’s shoulders.
“I think there are so many different opportunities and ways this can play out,” Wallace told The Hollywood Reporter. “At the end of the day, Iโm putting my trust in Taylor and his decisions for all of these charactersโ storylines. That one is above my pay grade”.
This uncertainty is built into the story. With Tommy leaving M-Tex to start his own venture, CTT Oil, Cami’s connection to the main plot is less direct. Moore herself has said the role took her “out of my comfort zone” in a positive way, but has not commented on season three.
The status of Andy Garcia’s cartel boss, Gallino, is also a bit murky. While Garcia is expected to return after bankrolling Tommy’s new company with a $62 million investment, the exact size of his role is unknown. His character’s ominous warning to Tommy about the consequences of failure guarantees his influence will be felt, but it’s unclear if he will be a regular presence.
Definitely Not Returning: One Major Exit
One character who will absolutely not be seen in Landman Season 3 is Jon Hamm’s Monty Miller. Monty, the president of M-Tex Oil and Tommy’s friend, was killed off in the first season finale. His death set the entire plot of the second season in motion, with his widow Cami taking over the company. Hamm’s departure from the series is therefore permanent and story-driven.

The new season is being described by the creators as a “reset” for the series. The story will pivot to focus on Tommy, Cooper, and T.L. operating their new, family-run CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle company, free from the massive corporate structure of M-Tex.
“Itโs kind of a reset,” explained Christian Wallace. “We have these characters entering into different dynamics with one another, and now we have T.L., Tommy and Cooper all working at the same company, but not under the auspices of this larger corporation. Itโs now family-run, very small, starting from almost scratch”.
This shift promises more time in the gritty oil fields of the Permian Basin, a setting Wallace is eager to explore further.
Despite a major deal that will see creator Taylor Sheridan move to NBCUniversal in 2029, Landman remains safely at Paramount+ for the foreseeable future, with the show aiming to continue its pattern of yearly releases. Filming is scheduled to begin around April or May 2026, targeting a premiere window in November 2026, similar to the first two seasons.
