After a season two finale that changed everything for Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris, fans can mark their calendars. Landman will be back for its third season, with a clear release window now in sight following confirmation from the show’s creators.

The season two finale, which aired on January 18, 2026, delivered major twists and a surprisingly hopeful ending for the Norris family. Tommy was fired from M-Tex Oil by Cami, played by Demi Moore, but used the setback to launch his own family-run oil company, CTT Oil. This new beginning sets the stage for a completely different dynamic in the upcoming season. Fan reaction to the finale was overwhelmingly positive, with many calling it a perfect ending that redeemed earlier season bumps and has them excited for what comes next.

Landman Season 3 Eyes November 2026 Premiere

Good news for fans eager to return to West Texas: Landman Season 3 is expected to premiere in November 2026. This follows the show’s established pattern of yearly releases. Season one premiered in November 2024, and season two followed almost exactly a year later in November 2025.

Co-creator Christian Wallace confirmed the production schedule is aiming to continue this rhythm. “We are a little bit later than we were the last two seasons, but that only matter for us because of the heat in Texas,” Wallace said, noting that filming is planned to restart in the spring. He indicated the team is in a good groove with the schedule, despite the challenge of filming long outdoor days in intense Texas heat.

Christian Wallace stated: “We’re in a groove. We are a little bit later than we were the last two seasons, but that only matter for us because of the heat in Texas. When we get back into production this year, it’s going to be pretty full on, and just getting hotter.”

While Paramount+ has not announced an official date, the consistent yearly pattern and the planned production start strongly point to a November 2026 release.

Swift Renewal Followed Record-Breaking Season Premiere

The show’s return was never in serious doubt. Landman was officially renewed for a third season in early December 2025, just weeks after its second season launched.

This quick renewal was driven by massive viewership. The season two premiere in November 2025 was a historic success for Paramount+, becoming the platform’s most-watched premiere ever with 9.2 million global views in its first two days. This represented a huge 262% increase in viewership compared to the season one premiere.

Billy Bob Thornton himself expressed surprise at the show’s explosive growth in popularity. “I didn’t really realize that the show was going to go up in popularity that much,” Thornton told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was already the hugest show with the first season, and then the next seasonโ€ฆ they went up like 262 percent. I’m not great at math, but I thought, how is that possible?”.

A Reset Storyline Brings Cast Questions and Confirmations

The finale’s plot has direct implications for the season three cast. With Tommy fired from M-Tex and starting CTT Oil, the workplace dynamics are completely reshaped. This has led to questions about which characters from the corporate world will return.

Billy Bob Thornton is absolutely coming back as the lead, Tommy Norris. Sam Elliott, who plays Tommy’s father T.L., has also confirmed he will return for season three. Other core family members like Ali Larter (Angela) and Jacob Lofland (Cooper) are expected to continue their roles as they join the new family business.

The status of Demi Moore’s character, Cami, is less certain. With Tommy no longer at M-Tex, her role in the story could change significantly. Moore has spoken positively about her experience on the show, telling Glamour it took her “out of my comfort zone” in a good way, but there is no official word yet on her season three involvement. Co-creator Christian Wallace deferred questions about specific storylines to Taylor Sheridan.

Billy Bob Thornton Shuts Down Rumors of Leaving the Show

Despite the character’s major job change, rumors swirled online that Billy Bob Thornton might be exiting Landman. Thornton directly and forcefully denied these reports.

In an interview with USA Today, Thornton dismissed the speculation as “AI-generated crap.” He clarified, “There’s an AI report that Demi and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show. They have nothing to do with reality.”

When asked about his involvement in the upcoming season, Thornton simply and definitively stated, “I’ll be there.” He has previously mentioned being signed on for multiple seasons of the series.

What Season 3 Will Focus On After the Finale’s New Beginning

The third season will be a “reset” for the series, according to co-creator Christian Wallace. The story will now follow Tommy, his son Cooper, and his father T.L. as they work together to get their new small company, CTT Oil, off the ground. This shifts the show away from the large corporate setting of M-Tex to a family-run operation.

Christian Wallace explained the new dynamic: “It’s kind of a reset. We have these characters entering into different dynamics with one another, and now we have T.L., Tommy and Cooper all working at the same company, but not under the auspices of this larger corporation. Itโ€™s now family-run, very small, starting from almost scratch. Thatโ€™s a whole new dynamic for them.”

This new venture comes with serious risk. To finance CTT Oil, Tommy made a deal with cartel boss Gallino, played by Andy Garcia. Gallino warned Tommy that if the partnership fails, he will take “what he loves most in this world”. This threat hangs over the Norris family’s fresh start.

Wallace also said viewers can expect the show to continue featuring its wide range of characters and storylines, from the oil fields to family drama. He expressed personal excitement about having more story set in the gritty world of the Permian Basin oil fields.
