The upcoming Liar Game anime adaptation has revealed its theme song lineup, bringing two popular Japanese music acts to the series. Yorushika performs the opening theme “Bubble” while Lucky Kilimanjaro handles the ending theme “Asahi.” The announcement came alongside a new trailer released on March 18, 2026, giving fans a first listen to both tracks.
The anime is scheduled to premiere on April 7, 2026, with Crunchyroll streaming the series worldwide excluding Japan and China. For viewers in Japan, the show begins on TV Tokyo and its affiliates on April 6 at 24:00 JST (effectively April 7 at 12:00 a.m.). The first two episodes will have a world premiere screening at Sakura-Con in Seattle on April 5 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.
Yorushika Brings “Bubble” to the Liar Game Opening
Yorushika, the rock band consisting of n-buna and vocalist suis, created the opening theme “Bubble” specifically for the anime. The band has built a strong following since their formation, known for their literary lyrics and the transparent quality of suis’s voice.
n-buna, who originally gained recognition as a Vocaloid producer, writes and composes the band’s music. The duo has become one of Japan’s most streamed rock acts, with their songs often exploring themes of memory, life, and human emotion through poetic storytelling.
The band shared their thoughts on the creative process behind the new song:
“The song Bubble was written around the idea of tautology—repetition, the restating of the same meaning in different words. It is about the activities that make up our living. Life is repetition. I hope that kind of stubborn repetition will resonate with the characters of LIAR GAME—with her, and with him.”
Lucky Kilimanjaro Delivers “Asahi” as Ending Theme
The ending theme “Asahi” comes from Lucky Kilimanjaro, a six-member band that formed when its members met in a university music club. The band describes their self-created theme as “to make everyday life around the world dance,” reflecting their upbeat and rhythm-driven musical style.
For the Liar Game ending theme, the band drew inspiration from the main character Nao Kanzaki’s personality. Their approach focused on creating a moment of calm after the intense psychological battles that define the series.
“Sometimes we lose our way, feel discouraged, and try to hide ourselves in the darkness. When we thought about Nao Kanzaki’s unwavering belief in others, we felt something like a light that shines into that darkness and leads us back toward a brighter place. That feeling became the inspiration for this song. After the intense psychological battles leave your mind overheated, we hope this track offers a moment of warmth and relief.”
This marks Lucky Kilimanjaro’s first time handling an anime ending theme, making the Liar Game project a notable addition to their career.

What to Expect From the Liar Game Anime
The anime adapts Shinobu Kaitani’s manga, which ran in Weekly Young Jump from 2005 to 2015. The story follows Nao Kanzaki, a college student who receives a mysterious invitation and a suitcase containing 100 million yen. She gets pulled into the Liar Game, a high-stakes psychological battle where deception and betrayal are the only rules. To survive, she turns to Shinichi Akiyama, a former con artist with extraordinary intellect.
The manga has seen multiple adaptations including two live-action television series, two films, and a stage play in 2023. This marks the first time the series receives a full anime adaptation, produced by Studio Madhouse, known for their work on Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
The production team includes Yūzō Satō as chief director, with Asami Kawano directing. Tatsuhiko Urahata handles series composition and scripts, while Yūgo Kanno composes the music. The voice cast features Saya Hitomi as Nao Kanzaki and Takeo Ōtsuka as Shinichi Akiyama.
Global audiences can watch the series on Crunchyroll when it debuts in April. The new trailer, available with multiple language subtitles, gives viewers their first extended look at the animation style and tone of the series.
