The streets of New York have turned into a war zone in the Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which premiered on Disney+ on March 24, 2026. The first episode, titled “The Northern Star,” throws Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) into a dangerous battle against Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), who now runs the city like a police state. The episode ends with a shocking moment when an unexpected enemy saves Daredevil from certain capture, setting up a complicated new dynamic for the season.
The eight-episode season follows a weekly release schedule, with episodes arriving every Tuesday. Fans in the United States can watch new episodes at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT, while viewers in India can stream them on JioHotstar starting from early morning hours. After the first episode, episodes 2 and 3 will drop together on March 31, 2026, giving audiences a double dose of action.
Daredevil Takes Down a Weapon-Filled Ship Belonging to Kingpin
The episode opens with Matt Murdock, suited up as Daredevil, fighting his way through a cargo ship called the Northern Star. The ship is heading to Fisk’s Red Hook Freeport, a port the Mayor set up to bring illegal goods into New York without any oversight. Inside the ship, Matt discovers military-grade weapons that would likely arm Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF).
When the ship’s crew realizes Daredevil is on board, they get orders to sink the vessel. Matt hears their plan using his heightened senses and manages to escape, but not before throwing a watch into one of the weapon crates. This watch will help him track the weapons later when workers recover them from the river. The Northern Star sinks in the Hudson River, blocking the Freeport and causing major problems for Fisk.
The sinking draws attention from Mr. Charles, a CIA operative played by Matthew Lillard. Charles calls the situation a “clusterf**k” and pressures Fisk to fix the problem quickly. The CIA wants to use the Freeport for their own secret operations, so Charles agrees to help Fisk by providing workers who can be “disappeared” after the job is done.
Karen Page and Matt Murdock Work Together From the Shadows
Matt and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) have set up a hidden base in a trashed building in Hell’s Kitchen. The rundown location helps them stay off Fisk’s radar while they plan their next moves. Karen tells Matt she will contact her “friend Jess” to help gather information about where the weapons from the Northern Star were going. This friend is Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), who is confirmed to appear later in the season.
Karen also reaches out to BB Urich, a journalist who works closely with Fisk’s administration. Karen warns BB to be careful because she still carries guilt over the death of BB’s uncle, Ben Urich, a reporter who died in the original Netflix series. This connection gives Karen access to inside information about Fisk’s plans.
The episode includes subtle nods to other characters from the Netflix era. When Matt returns from a mission with injuries, Karen asks if she should call for help from Metro-General, a reference to Claire Temple, the nurse who helped vigilantes in the original show. Matt also mentions training with a “borderline psychotic sensei,” referring to his mentor Stick.
Heather Glenn’s Mental State Worsens as She Works for Fisk
Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva), the city’s mental health commissioner, returns to work evaluating vigilantes for Fisk’s “superhero trials.” These trials are designed to lock up anyone who operates outside the law. Heather has not recovered from being held hostage by the serial killer Muse in the previous season, and she starts hallucinating that Muse is following her.
During an evaluation of Jack Duquesne (Tony Dalton), also known as Swordsman, Heather sees Muse standing behind him. After snapping out of the vision, she becomes more aggressive in her questioning. Later, District Attorney Hochburg (John Benjamin Hickey) asks her to change Duquesne’s psychological data to make him look dangerous. Heather sees Muse again and agrees to alter the answers, marking Duquesne as a sociopath even though he denies being a vigilante.
Meanwhile, Kirsten McDuffie (Nikki M. James), Matt’s legal partner, learns from DA Hochburg that the trials are rigged. No matter what evidence is presented, the accused vigilantes will go to prison. Hochburg tries to convince McDuffie to drop the Duquesne case and join his office, but she refuses, knowing the system has been corrupted.
The AVTF Closes in on Matt and His Allies
The Anti-Vigilante Task Force intensifies its search for Matt and Karen. Fisk orders his team to find the captain and first officer of the Northern Star, who escaped before the ship sank. The task force locates the captain, Achilleo Kyriaco, at a restaurant owned by Ariana. When Ariana tries to protect Kyriaco, an AVTF officer assaults her. Kyriaco is captured and later killed in one of Fisk’s illegal detention centers.
Cherry (Clark Johnson) , Matt’s former detective ally, tries to track down the first officer, Christofi Savva, but the AVTF gets to him first. The task force breaks into Cherry’s apartment and tortures him for information. Matt arrives as Daredevil to save Cherry, knocking out two agents. But more AVTF soldiers enter the apartment, and a fight breaks out.
During the fight, Cherry suffers a heart attack. Matt hears Cherry’s heartbeat become irregular, which makes him remember the death of his friend Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) in the first season. This moment of distraction allows the AVTF agents to overpower Daredevil and knock him out. The agents pull off his mask and discover that the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is actually Matt Murdock.
Bullseye Saves Daredevil in the Episode’s Final Moments
Just as the AVTF agents realize who Daredevil really is, a sniper starts shooting from a nearby building. The agents are killed one by one with precise shots. A knife flies into the room, stuck into the wall with a message carved into it: “You’re welcome.” The knife also has Bullseye’s signature target symbol, confirming that Benjamin Poindexter, also known as Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), is the one who saved Matt.
This rescue comes as a surprise because Bullseye has been one of Daredevil’s deadliest enemies. In the past, Bullseye tried to kill Fisk, which led to Matt getting shot. But now, Bullseye seems to have his own reasons for keeping Matt alive. By saving Daredevil from Fisk’s forces, Bullseye makes it clear that he does not want the Mayor to win this war.
The episode ends with Matt unconscious and Cherry in critical condition, leaving viewers wondering what happens next. Bullseye’s motivations remain unclear, but his actions suggest he might become an unlikely ally for Daredevil against Kingpin.
Easter Eggs and References to the Netflix Series
The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 includes several callbacks to the original Netflix series. The mention of Jessica Jones confirms her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Karen’s warning to BB Urich about her uncle Ben shows that Karen still carries the weight of his death. The references to Claire Temple and Stick remind viewers of Matt’s past connections.
Bullseye’s return also connects directly to the Netflix show, where he was a major threat to Matt and those close to him. His decision to save Daredevil in this episode flips their usual dynamic and sets up an interesting conflict for the rest of the season.
