Rosé and Bruno Mars’ collaborative single, “APT.“, has made history by reaching 1 billion views on YouTube faster than any other K-pop music video. This achievement breaks the long-standing record held by PSY’s “Gangnam Style.”
A New Milestone for K-Pop
“APT.” reached the 1 billion view mark on January 31, 2025, just 105 days after its release on October 18, 2024. This makes it the fastest K-pop music video, and the fastest by a female K-pop artist, to reach this milestone. The song surpassed PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” which took 158 days to achieve the same feat back in 2012. “Gangnam Style” held this record for over 12 years.
Global Success
“APT.” now holds the fifth-fastest time for any music video to hit 1 billion views on YouTube. It follows Adele’s “Hello,” Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” and J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente.”
The song’s success extends beyond YouTube. “APT.” peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, a new high for the track, after debuting at number eight and holding that position for ten weeks. It also topped the Global Spotify chart, making Rosé the first female K-pop soloist to achieve this. Rosé also became the first K-pop artist to exceed 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify, surpassing BTS’ Jungkook’s previous record of 40.7 million.
Recent Activities
Rosé and Bruno Mars performed “APT.” live for the first time at the 2024 MAMA Awards. Rosé also made a cameo in the music video for Bruno Mars’ song “Fat Juicy & Wet,” featuring Sexyy Red. She recently performed at Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes 2025. Rosé released her solo studio album “rosie” on December 6, 2024, alongside the music video for the title track “toxic till the end,” featuring Evan Mock.
