The 79th Tony Awards took place on June 7, 2026, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Pop superstar P!NK hosted the ceremony for the first time, honoring the best of the Broadway season. The show aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
Schmigadoon! won the award for Best Musical, while Liberation took home the trophy for Best Play. Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman won the most awards of the night with six wins, followed by Schmigadoon!, The Lost Boys, and Ragtime with four awards each. Cats: The Jellicle Ball earned three Tonys.
Best Musical and Best Play Winners Lead the Night
Schmigadoon!, based on the Apple TV+ series, came into the ceremony tied for the most nominations with 12. The musical won Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Orchestrations. Cinco Paul wrote the book, music, and lyrics for the show.
Liberation by Bess Wohl won Best Play. The production had previously won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Producers for the play included Daryl Roth, Eva Price, and Roundabout Theatre Company.
Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman won Best Revival of a Play. The production, directed by Joe Mantello and starring Nathan Lane, Laurie Metcalf, and Christopher Abbott, led all shows with six Tony Awards. Joe Mantello won Best Direction of a Play. Laurie Metcalf won Best Featured Actress in a Play. The production also won for scenic design, lighting design, and sound design.
Ragtime won Best Revival of a Musical. The show entered the night with 11 nominations and won four awards. Joshua Henry and Caissie Levy both won Best Leading Actor in a Musical and Best Leading Actress in a Musical for their performances in Ragtime. Kai Harada also won Best Sound Design of a Musical for the show.
John Lithgow and Lesley Manville Take Home Acting Honors
John Lithgow, at 80 years old, became one of the oldest Tony Award winners for his role as Roald Dahl in Giant. He won Best Leading Actor in a Play. Lesley Manville, age 70, won Best Leading Actress in a Play for her performance in Oedipus.
Alden Ehrenreich won his first Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for Becky Shaw. Shoshana Bean and Ali Louis Bourzgui both won their first Tony Awards for The Lost Boys. Bean won Best Featured Actress in a Musical, and Bourzgui won Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch won Best Direction of a Musical for Cats: The Jellicle Ball. Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons won Best Choreography for the same production. Qween Jean won Best Costume Design of a Musical for Cats.
Dane Laffrey won Best Scenic Design of a Musical for The Lost Boys. Jen Schriever and Michael Arden won Best Lighting Design of a Musical for the same show. Jeff Mahshie won Best Costume Design of a Play for Fallen Angels.

Special Honors and Memorable Performances
The ceremony featured performances celebrating major Broadway anniversaries. The cast of Chicago performed for the show’s 30th anniversary. The Book of Mormon also marked an anniversary with a special performance. The evening included a tribute to A Chorus Line and Rent.
Andrรฉ Bishop, Jules Fisher, and James Lapine received the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. Mary-Mitchell Campbell received the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award. The League of Resident Theatres (LORT) received a Special Tony Award. The 1/52 Project, Jake Bell, Kenn Lubin, and Loren Plotkin received Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.
P!NK opened the show with a high-energy number suspended in air, performing “Lady Marmalade” and later appearing as Velma Kelly for the Chicago anniversary performance. Presenters included Adrien Brody, Bowen Yang, Billy Crystal, and Ariana DeBose. The evening featured performances from all seven musicals nominated for Tonys: The Lost Boys, Titanรญque, Schmigadoon!, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), Cats: The Jellicle Ball, Ragtime, and The Rocky Horror Show.
