The actress and MMA star is making headlines on two fronts. She is preparing for a huge boxing match against Ronda Rousey on May 16, but she also just dropped major news about her future in a galaxy far, far away.

Gina Carano recently broke her silence about her relationship with Lucasfilm following her 2025 settlement with Disney. In a candid interview, she confirmed a private meeting with the creators of The Mandalorian, revealing where things stand with her former boss and her old co-stars.

The Secret Zoom With Favreau and Filoni

Carano revealed that she held a Zoom call in January 2026 with Jon Favreau (the creator of The Mandalorian) and Dave Filoni (Lucasfilm’s chief creative officer). This was their first significant conversation since she was fired from the series in 2021.

“I think it was, ‘Let’s touch base,’” Carano explained to The Hollywood Reporter. She described the conversation as a way to “mend whatever” and “make sure everybody was good.” She confirmed that the call ended with a positive result: “Everybody was good.”

While Carano refused to share the specific details of that conversation, the timing is significant. The meeting happened after she settled her wrongful termination lawsuit against Disney in August 2025. The fact that Lucasfilm’s top creatives are talking to her again has led many to believe a return could be possible.

However, Carano is keeping fans guessing. When asked directly if they discussed bringing her character, Cara Dune, back to the screen, she kept her answer vague. “I won’t really disclose any of that,” she said, adding that the call was simply an important step for their relationship.

A Quiet Setback With Pedro Pascal

While the chat with the bosses went well, the same cannot be said for her relationship with her former co-star. Carano admitted that she and Pedro Pascal—who plays the lead role of Din Djarin—do not keep in touch.

The two actors shared the screen closely during the first two seasons of the show. But Carano revealed they haven’t spoken in more than two years. The last time they talked was in February 2024, following the death of their mutual co-star, Carl Weathers.

“Me and Pedro don’t keep in touch,” Carano stated flatly in the interview. This detail adds a layer of complexity to any potential return. While the studio executives might be open to working with her again, the on-screen dynamic with the show’s star remains distant.

From the Courtroom to the Octagon

Carano’s life outside of acting is currently focused on a physical challenge. Before any potential Hollywood comeback, she must step into the ring for a major sporting event.

Netflix is banking big on the return of Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano. The streaming service released the official trailer for the fight, which will mark Netflix’s first-ever live MMA broadcast. The event is scheduled for May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

The event includes a stacked card featuring Nate Diaz fighting Mike Perry and Francis Ngannou facing Philipe Lins. For Carano, this is a major comeback after a 17-year hiatus from professional fighting.

She recently spoke about her physical transformation, admitting she was “hiding from the world” and struggling with her weight before accepting the fight.

“I feel like I’m blooming now. I love this age. I have a husband. I have goals. This is the best I’ve ever felt.” – Gina Carano

The Current Status of Cara Dune

So, is Gina Carano actually coming back to Star Wars? As of April 30, 2026, nothing is official. There is no contract and no public announcement from Disney or Lucasfilm regarding a specific project.

However, the door is no longer locked. When Carano settled her lawsuit, a Disney representative stated that they looked “forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.” That statement was a massive shift from the harsh language used when she was fired.

Fans will have to wait and see. The upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, but it is likely too late for Carano to appear in that movie. If she does return, it would probably be for a different Star Wars project down the line.

For now, Carano is focused on May 16. She has a fight to win against Ronda Rousey, and she seems at peace with her past. “I love peace,” she said. “When all parties can be happy, we can move on.”
