The Marshals season 1 finale just dropped on May 24, 2026, and fans are already asking when Kayce Dutton is coming back. The good news? CBS already gave the green light for Marshals Season 2 back in March 2026, just days after the premiere episode aired.

The show pulled in massive numbers. The first episode drew 9.52 million same-day viewers, and that number grew to 20.6 million within a week. By the end of the first season, Marshals averaged over 26 million viewers across all platforms, making it CBS’s biggest hit of 2026.

Marshals Season 2 does not have an exact premiere date yet, but CBS confirmed it will arrive in fall 2026. Expect the show to return around September or October 2026, keeping its Sunday night 8 p.m. ET time slot.
The quick turnaround makes sense. Production for Marshals Season 2 started filming in May 2026, just days after the season 1 finale aired. The cast confirmed they are already shooting the first episodes of the new season.

Bigger Episode Count for Season 2
Marshals season 1 had 13 episodes. Marshals Season 2 will be much bigger. Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, told Collider at SXSW that the second season will have either 18 or 20 episodes.
โNo, itโs going to be more than that. Itโs up in the air right now. Itโs either going to be 18 or 20. Yeah. They like it.โ
โ Luke Grimes to Collider
That is a major increase of five to seven extra episodes compared to the first season. With this longer run, Marshals Season 2 will likely air from fall 2026 through early 2027, wrapping up around February or March 2027.
Which Cast Members Are Returning for Marshals Season 2
Nearly the entire main cast is coming back for Marshals Season 2. CBS has not made an official cast announcement yet, but multiple actors have confirmed their return.

Luke Grimes will be back as Kayce Dutton. There is no Marshals show without him. Logan Marshall-Green confirmed he returns as Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Pete โCalโ Calvin. He told The Hollywood Reporter, โI can confirm he is alive, but not necessarily unscathed.โ
Arielle Kebbel also confirmed her return as Belle. She said, โI am a part of season 2, yes. We start filming [season 2] with a pick up of that [finale] moment.โ
Other returning cast members include:
- Ash Santos as Andrea
- Tatanka Means as Miles
- Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton
- Mo Brings Plenty as Mo
- Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater
Riley Green, the country singer who made his acting debut in season 1, is expected to return as well.

The season 1 finale left several characters in dangerous situations. Cal and Belle got ambushed during a mission, and fans were not sure if they survived. Logan Marshall-Green put those worries to rest by confirming Cal is alive, though he may have lasting injuries.
The finale also revealed that rancher Tom Weaver was behind the attacks on Rainwater. Kayceโs son Tate left with Weaver, putting the boy in a risky situation that Marshals Season 2 will address right away.
Arielle Kebbel told The Hollywood Reporter that the season 2 scripts surprised her. โI gasped reading the first episode of season two,โ she said. She also warned viewers, โI think people may be surprised to see just how bad it gets.โ
Logan Marshall-Green said that Marshals Season 2 picks up โright where we left off, literally and figuratively. No rest for the wicked.โ He also mentioned that Calโs cancer storyline from season 1 will continue. โI donโt want a pussyfoot around it. I want the stakes to be as high as possible.โ
Ash Santos told PEOPLE that her character Andrea will show a completely different side in the new season. โIn [season 2], I think weโll start to see a side of Andrea thatโs almost opposite to how we met her in season 1.โ
The showโs quick renewal and longer episode order show how much CBS believes in the Yellowstone spin-off. CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach said, โMarshals delivered a breakout performance, capturing a massive audience across platforms and quickly establishing itself as one of TVโs most powerful new series.โ
Fans can watch Marshals season 1 on Paramount+ while waiting for Marshals Season 2 to arrive this fall.
