What Is Doctor on the Edge About?
Doctor on the Edge tells the story of Do Ji-ui, a successful plastic surgeon who worked at one of South Korea’s top universities. His perfect life changes when he gets assigned to a remote island called Pyeongdongdo as part of his military service.
The island becomes a difficult place for Do Ji-ui. He has a deep fear of the ocean. The locals are intrusive, and the living conditions are very different from his city life. He struggles to adjust to the strange bugs and the isolated environment.
A nurse named Yuk Hari works on the same island. She moved there from the big city for unknown reasons. Yuk Hari has a gentle smile but hides many secrets. She always appears near Do Ji-ui when his fear of the sea becomes too much to handle. The show explores how these two healthcare workers deal with strange events and build a connection on the remote island.
The drama is based on the webtoon Doctor Jonbeo (also known as Endurance Doctor) by Kim Tae-pung. Lee Myung-woo directs the series, and Kim Ji-soo wrote the screenplay.
