Love in Sync brings together Kim Myung Soo, Kang Min Ah, and Kwon So Hyun in a romantic comedy with a supernatural twist. The drama, which premieres on July 4, 2026, features a love triangle that reignites a bitter rivalry between two former girl group members. Kim Myung Soo plays Cha Eun Hwan, a psychological counselor who accidentally becomes the center of the conflict between Yoo Ji An (Kang Min Ah) and Han Yi Jin (Kwon So Hyun). The series follows a woman who rejects empathy and a man who carries too much of it, as they begin sharing emotions through a supernatural phenomenon.
The Setup: A Counselor Caught Between Two Rivals
Kim Myung Soo, known as L from the K-pop group INFINITE, takes on the role of Cha Eun Hwan, a kind and highly sought-after psychological counselor. His character is known for his unconventional counseling methods and has gained popularity for his unique approach to therapy. Cha Eun Hwan carries the emotional weight of others more heavily than anyone else, making him a complex character who appears playful on the outside but secretly struggles with his own emotional wounds.
Kang Min Ah plays Yoo Ji An, an A-list actress and former girl group member. Her character began her career as a child actress and grew up under her mother’s overprotective care. As she continued working as both an idol and actress under strict agency control, she developed a limited ability to empathize with others. Yoo Ji An faces a career crisis when an online exposé brands her a “power-tripping bully”.
Kwon So Hyun, a member of 4minute, portrays Han Yi Jin, a rising actress and Yoo Ji An’s rival. Han Yi Jin was once a member of the same girl group as Yoo Ji An and developed a deep sense of inferiority after Yoo Ji An, the group’s center, left and the team eventually disbanded.
The Rivalry: From Bandmates to Bitter Enemies
Yoo Ji An and Han Yi Jin share a complicated past as former bandmates who have since become bitter enemies. Their friendship turned into rivalry when Han Yi Jin struggled in the shadow of Yoo Ji An’s overwhelming popularity. The resulting frustrations contributed to the group’s internal conflicts and eventual disbandment. Both women later transitioned into acting, once again finding themselves on the same path.
The tension between them remains unresolved, and they clash whenever they cross paths. Cha Eun Hwan winds up becoming an unexpected connection between the former bandmates, each of whom harbors her own emotional wounds. When these three people become entangled through counseling, Cha Eun Hwan inadvertently reignites the feud between Yoo Ji An and Han Yi Jin.
The production team stated, “In the first episode of the drama, the wounds and conflict that have built up between Yoo Ji An and Han Yi Jin will be revealed. Please keep an eye on the story of their past rift and the tense war of nerves between them.”
The Supernatural Twist: Emotional Transference
Love in Sync introduces a supernatural phenomenon called “emotional transference”. Through this surreal connection, Cha Eun Hwan and Yoo Ji An become emotionally linked and gradually relearn what it means to understand and care for others. Yoo Ji An, a top star who rejects empathy, and Cha Eun Hwan, a man burdened with too much of it, begin sharing each other’s emotions.
The highlight video shows Yoo Ji An appearing perfect on the outside but criticized for her lack of empathy, which prevents her acting from improving. After meeting Cha Eun Hwan, who is said to help improve actors’ performances, her life takes a major turning point. When Cha Eun Hwan happens to come across a crying Yoo Ji An, he hears her baffling remark, “It seems like you’re the one crying, not me”. Later, when Yoo Ji An picks up on a thought he had only kept to himself, Cha Eun Hwan asks, “Can you read my mind?” and is taken aback by her response: “It’s as if we’re sharing the same heart”.
Career Crises Add to the Drama
Both Cha Eun Hwan and Yoo Ji An face the biggest crises of their respective careers in the drama. Yoo Ji An faces an unexpected controversy that suddenly turns public opinion against the once popular star. Although she appears prickly on the outside, she hides a soft, vulnerable heart and winds up pitifully shedding tears at a convenience store in despair.
Cha Eun Hwan, on the other hand, gets into trouble because of the unique counseling method that made him popular. The renowned counselor suddenly finds himself at risk of losing his license due to ethical issues and freezes in shock after receiving a letter from the counselors’ association.
The production team added, “Cha Eun Hwan, who is in danger of having his counselor’s license revoked, and Yoo Ji An, who has been branded with the stigma of power abuse, will be caught up in a whirlwind of unending incidents. Please keep an eye on how they grow through these experiences.”
Behind-the-Scenes Chemistry
Despite the tense rivalry on screen, the actors showed strong chemistry behind the scenes. Kim Myung Soo and Kang Min Ah served as a source of energy on set with bright smiles and affectionate poses. Director Kim Chil Bong said, “In romantic comedy, the chemistry between actors is important, and the two fed off each other’s reactions well, creating better scenes”.
Kang Min Ah plays a prickly top star in the series, but in real life, she has a down-to-earth charm. She said, “The atmosphere on set was so good. Thank you for creating a set where we could laugh together. It was truly a joy”. Kwon So Hyun also displays a cheerful personality off-camera, which contrasts with her jealous character in the series. She said, “Actors Kim Myung Soo and Kang Min Ah were both very considerate, so I was able to work comfortably with them”.
