Netflix has set the premiere date for the third edition of its anthology franchise. Lust Stories 3 will start streaming on September 18, 2026. The streaming platform made the announcement on Saturday, September 5.
The new installment brings together four well-known Indian directors. Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra, and Vishal Bhardwaj have each directed a short film for the anthology. Each director brings their own storytelling style to explore themes of love, desire, and relationships.
Star-Studded Ensemble Cast Joins the Anthology
Lust Stories 3 features a large cast of actors from Indian cinema. The lineup includes Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Radhika Madan, Sana Thampi, Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee, Siddharth, Ali Fazal, and Gurfateh Pirzada.
Some actors are returning to the franchise. Radhika Apte appeared in the first Lust Stories in 2018. Vijay Varma was part of the second edition in 2023.
The directors have paired actors for their segments in specific ways. Vikramaditya Motwane’s story features Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vijay Varma, and Abhishek Banerjee. Shakun Batra’s segment stars Ali Fazal and Radhika Madan. Vishal Bhardwaj brings together Siddharth and Aditi Rao Hydari. Kiran Rao’s story includes Gurfateh Pirzada with newcomer Sana Thampi.
What to Expect from the Four Stories
The four short films look at love, lust, relationships, and repressed desire through modern perspectives. Each director offers a different take on the emotions and choices that come with intimacy.
Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director of Original Films at Netflix India, spoke about what makes the franchise special.
“What gives Lust Stories its enduring appeal is its ability to reinvent itself. Each chapter begins with a shared human impulse and arrives at a completely different emotional truth. Here, desire opens a window into power, vulnerability, agency, compromise, and the things people struggle to say aloud.”
She added that the four directors bring distinct perspectives while inviting audiences to interpret the relationships through their own experiences.

The Franchise’s Journey So Far
The Lust Stories franchise began in 2018. The first edition brought together directors Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar. That anthology earned international recognition and received an International Emmy nomination.
The second edition arrived on Netflix in 2023. R Balki, Konkona Sen Sharma, Amit Ravindernath Sharma, and Sujoy Ghosh directed the four stories for that installment.
Lust Stories 3 continues the tradition of bringing together filmmakers with different storytelling styles. The anthology has become a regular part of Netflix India’s content lineup.
