Sharon Stone is opening up about her love life in a way she never has before. The 68-year-old actress appeared on Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown podcast on Tuesday, Sept. 8, where she shared that she has been celibate for an extended period and is no longer interested in casual relationships.

Stone, who became one of the most famous sex symbols of the 1990s thanks to her role in Basic Instinct, told host Mayim Bialik that her priorities have changed now that her three sons are grown up. Instead of fleeting connections, she is looking for a real companion.

What Sharon Stone Said About Being Celibate

During the podcast conversation, Bialik asked Stone what she was like “as a girlfriend.” Stone answered honestly and with a laugh. “I’m a really good girlfriend, but I haven’t been a girlfriend in a long time,” she said. “And I’ve been a girlfriend to bad boyfriends, and I’ve been a girlfriend to good boyfriends.”

Stone then explained that her dating luck has run out for now.

“I’ve had good luck and bad luck and no luck at all. For quite a long time I’ve had no luck at all. I’ve been celibate for quite a while now because I’m just at the point where I really only want to be with someone that I care for.”

She added that with her children now adults, she wants something different from a partner. “I want someone that’s my companion, not just someone to have sex with,” Stone said. “I’m kind of bored with that.”

Stone described her current situation as the “no luck at all phase,” but she sees it as a necessary step. She called it “the phase you need to be willing to be in to have the thing that I really want.”

Who Sharon Stone Was Married To

Stone has been married twice. Her first marriage was to film and television producer Michael Greenburg, from 1984 to 1990. She later married journalist Phil Bronstein in 1998, and the two divorced in 2004 after six years of marriage.

With Bronstein, Stone adopted her eldest son, Roan, in 2000. Following her divorce, she adopted her second son, Laird, in 2005, and her third son, Quinn, in 2006.

Stone was most recently linked to Italian actor and real estate figure Angelo Boffa in 2018. The two reportedly dated for about nine months before splitting later that year.

Sharon Stone on Finding the Great Love of Her Life

When Bialik asked Stone whether she had ever experienced a great love, Stone gave a direct answer.

“I have had loves in my life, but I don’t think I’ve had the great love of my life.”

Stone also shared a story about visiting a psychic when she was 23 years old. According to Stone, the psychic predicted that she would become globally famous but warned that lasting love would be harder to find. The psychic told her she would not meet her person until she was “quite old, quite a bit older, almost 70.”

Stone said a second psychic later gave her the same prediction about meeting her partner when she was approaching 70. “Which is now,” the 68-year-old actress noted with humor.

Sharon Stone on Life as a Single Mother

Stone has spoken before about the joy she found raising her three sons on her own. In 2018, she told People at the Marie Claire Power Trip event that she was in a very happy period of her life.

“This is a very good period of my life right now, my life is happy. I live in the same house I’ve had for 25 years, and I feel happy waking up in my house with my kids.”

She described the simple routines she shared with her boys. “They’re at a wonderful age when we don’t have to have a nanny living with us anymore. I can wake up on a Saturday and I come downstairs, and they’re playing and we hang out. We swim, play basketball, we watch movies. We have such a lovely family dynamic.”

Stone noted that reaching that peaceful point as a single parent took “work and time and years and effort.” Her journey included surviving a brain aneurysm in 2001 and enduring a public custody battle over her eldest son, Roan, after her divorce from Phil Bronstein.

Stone’s three sons—Roan, 26, Laird, 21, and Quinn, 20—have all grown up. In August 2025, they made a rare red carpet appearance together at the premiere of Stone’s film Nobody 2 in Los Angeles, all dressed in suits to support their mother.
