New Allegations Surface Against Suga’s Military Conduct

On August 13, 2024, reports from Sports Kyung Hyang brought to light allegations against Suga, suggesting that he did not take his obligated classes seriously and failed to participate actively, despite holding a leadership position. These claims have led to a significant backlash, with some netizens even demanding that Suga leave BTS.

“Suga’s DUI is a result of his poor work attitude and the military office needs to investigate his work using CCTV. We strongly urge that a thorough investigation be conducted into Suga’s work while serving as a social service worker under the Military Service Act and that any violations found be reported to the authorities and dealt with strictly.” — A

This statement from an eyewitness added fuel to the fire, alleging that Suga‘s behavior warranted a formal complaint and a request for CCTV footage to investigate his actions.

Positive Account of Suga’s Early Military Behavior Resurfaces

Despite these recent allegations, an older account of Suga‘s behavior from the beginning of his enlistment has resurfaced, painting a different picture. In November 2023, a user on X (formerly known as Twitter) shared a story about how her boyfriend, who was also undergoing public service worker training, interacted with Suga during their training period.

According to the user, her boyfriend received gifts from Suga during the training, including a bottle of water and Pepero. The user expressed happiness over this small but thoughtful gesture.

“Yoongi treated his training teammates to water and Pepero. My boyfriend got them, too, and gave them to me… Heh. I’m so happy.” — OP

The account also provided insight into Suga‘s role as a leader during the training. He was reportedly the team leader of a group called “Pyeong Chang Su,” named after a popular water brand. As a leader, Suga created a set of rules and guidelines for the team, emphasizing the importance of punctuality, maintaining a friendly environment, and avoiding smoking indoors.

Netizens React Strongly to Contradicting Stories

The contrasting stories about Suga‘s behavior during his military service have sparked a strong reaction among netizens. While some are focusing on the negative allegations and questioning his commitment, others are highlighting the positive account that has resurfaced, suggesting that the recent accusations might not tell the whole story.

The situation remains fluid, with ongoing discussions and debates across various online platforms. As more details emerge, the true nature of Suga‘s conduct during his service may become clearer.

Netizens have taken the initial poor attitude allegations seriously, which you can read about below.
