The penultimate episode of Paradise season 2 arrived on March 23, 2026, and it delivered some of the biggest moments fans have been waiting for since the show began. Titled “The Final Countdown,” the episode finally brought Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) and his wife Teri (Enuka Okuma) back together after three long years apart. But that was just one of many major events packed into this hour, which also revealed a stunning connection between Samantha “Sinatra” Redmond (Julianne Nicholson) and the survivor leader Link (Thomas Doherty).
The episode is now streaming on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally. With only one episode left in the season, fans are trying to piece together what all these twists mean for the finale.
The Long-Awaited Xavier and Teri Reunion Finally Happens
After Xavier spent the entire season traveling across the country to find his wife, episode 7 showed the couple finally face to face. The reunion happened at the end of episode 6, but “The Final Countdown” gave viewers the full emotional payoff.
Teri and Xavier share several quiet moments together in a tent, away from the chaos of the survivor convoy. Okuma told TheWrap that giving the couple that private space was important. She said:
“It was really important to quiet the world down and give them five minutes to actually connect. I put a lot of pressure on myself, but once we were in the tent, and the scene happened, and the circumstances were what they were, it ended up being very, very easy.”
Brown also spoke about the significance of the reunion, telling Entertainment Weekly that finding Teri was the only reason Xavier would ever leave his children behind. He described the moment as “the definition of joy” and said he hoped audiences felt that same sense of release.
The Tense Confrontation With Gary
The happy reunion did not come without complications. Gary (Cameron Britton), the postal worker who developed feelings for Teri during their time together in the bunker, still had Bean (Benjamin Mackey), the young boy Teri had been caring for. Gary left a note demanding Teri come back to him.
Teri decided to face Gary alone, even though Xavier had positioned himself with a sniper rifle ready to shoot if necessary. Okuma explained why her character took that risk:
“Teri knows Gary’s heart at the end of the day, and so she wouldn’t walk into that line of fire unless she knew that she could reach Gary — and she was right. It’s a gamble, because we know that Gary’s kind of frayed on the edges, but I think she believes that his love for her will trump anything else.”
The confrontation ended peacefully. Teri convinced Gary to let her and Bean go, and Xavier chose not to shoot. Gary was left alone in the post office as Teri, Xavier and Bean headed back to the train.
Sinatra Learns the Truth About Link
While Xavier and Teri dealt with their personal drama, inside the bunker, Sinatra prepared to meet with Link, the leader of the survivor group that had arrived at the bunker’s entrance.
The meeting took place on Air Force One, which is parked inside the bunker. Link initially claimed he wanted one of the bunker’s nuclear reactors. But when Sinatra pushed him, he admitted his real goal: “I’m here for Alex.”
The scene took a shocking turn when one of Link’s men called him by a different name — Dylan. Sinatra immediately asked Link his birthday. He answered May 16. That is the same birthday as Sinatra’s son, Dylan Redmond, who died years earlier from an illness.
Sinatra had mentioned earlier in the episode that her son would have been 26 that year. Link appears to be around that age. Both characters also experienced nosebleeds during and after their conversation, a phenomenon that has been happening to certain characters throughout the season.
The episode ended with Sinatra taking a secret train to another part of the bunker, putting on a blue jacket, and smiling as she said, “Hi, Alex.” The identity of Alex remains a mystery, but the episode strongly suggested that Alex may be connected to whatever brought Dylan back.
Jane’s Fate and the Bunker Meltdown
The episode also dealt with Jane (Nicole Brydon Bloom) , who had been revealed as a secret operative working against the bunker’s leadership. Dr. Gabriela Torabi (Sarah Shahi) grew suspicious and set a trap. When Jane broke into Gabriela’s home to kill her, Gabriela surprised her in the bathroom and stabbed her in the back. Jane collapsed on the shower floor, though it was not confirmed whether she died.
Meanwhile, a separate crisis unfolded inside the bunker. Jeremy Bradford (Charlie Evans) , the son of the late president, tried to force the bunker doors open by triggering an oxygen shortage alarm. At the same time, Sinatra had ordered a full lockdown to keep Link and his people out. The two commands conflicted, and the system could not process both at once. The result was a potential nuclear meltdown that threatened everyone inside.
Critics noted the absurdity of such a high-tech bunker failing because of two conflicting commands. SlashFilm compared it to a scene from The Simpsons, calling it “the silliest” development yet but also acknowledging that it served to show how overconfident the bunker’s builders had been.
What the Cast and Creators Have Said About the Episode
Executive producer and writer John Hoberg told The Direct that the writers considered a much darker version of the Xavier and Teri reunion. He revealed:
“There was a version where Xavier killed a bunch of people and got to her like that. Now it taints it a little bit because it turns out they’re innocent people. He’d be like, ‘Oh, sorry, guys, I thought you were bad guys.’ So it took a lot of delicate balancing just to try to get it right.”
Okuma admitted she initially thought Teri might not survive the confrontation with Gary. She told Entertainment Weekly:
“When I was reading it, I thought, ‘Well this is when Teri goes.’ Because, to me, to finally get them together for her to slip through his fingers? I’m like, ‘That’s great storytelling.’ But I’m glad it didn’t happen.”
Okuma also reflected on the pressure of delivering such an important scene. She said all her worry disappeared once filming began because the scale of the production — with trains, explosions, hundreds of extras and extreme heat — made it impossible to focus on anything except the moment.

Where to Watch and What Comes Next
Paradise season 2 consists of eight episodes. The finale, titled “Exodus,” will be released on March 30, 2026. New episodes become available on Hulu in the US at 12 a.m. ET and on Disney+ internationally.
The show has been a major success for Hulu. According to Newsweek, the first season garnered 7 million views globally within its first nine days and was the ninth most-streamed show in early 2025 with 3.9 billion minutes watched. Season 2 currently holds an 89% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, slightly higher than season one’s 86%.
As for what fans can expect in the finale, Okuma told TheWrap that all the storylines from the season will converge. She also hinted that she has discussed season 3 with creator Dan Fogelman, though he has kept details secret. She said:
“I asked Dan and Sterling last year, if we get a season three, what would be the deal? They were thinking about the story back then, and they were like, ‘Oh, it’s good. It’s good.’ That’s all they would say to me. The sneaky smiles on both of their faces … They gave me nothing.”
