The wait is almost over for Euphoria fans. With the premiere of Season 3 now just hours away, HBO released a fresh look at Zendaya‘s character, Rue Bennett, giving viewers one final teaser of what is waiting for them. The new clip dropped on the network’s social media channels on Saturday, building on the intense full trailer that arrived last week. This final push comes as the cast prepares for the show’s return after a nearly four-year break.

The new footage shows Rue in a dark, tense situation. It continues the story from the previous trailer, which revealed that Rue is now caught up with a drug cartel in Mexico. She is trying to pay back a large debt to her old dealer, Laurie, played by Martha Kelly. The brief clip hints at the dangerous path Rue has taken since leaving high school. The season jumps forward five years, moving the characters out of East Highland High School and into a world that looks much more like a crime movie.

A Dangerous New Chapter for Rue

The marketing for Season 3 has made it very clear that Rue‘s struggle with addiction is far from over. Instead, the stakes have become a matter of life and death. In the main trailer, which has been viewed millions of times online, Rue is seen being questioned by DEA agents. One of the most talked-about moments shows her swallowing bags of concealed drugs to avoid getting caught.

This new look comes just after the Los Angeles premiere, which took place at the TCL Chinese Theatre on April 7. At the event, Zendaya walked the red carpet with her co-stars, including Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney. During the press tour, Zendaya confirmed what many fans already suspected. When asked by Drew Barrymore if this is the end of the road for the show, Zendaya said, “I think so, yeah.” Sam Levinson, the creator of the show, also told Variety that there are “no plans” for a fourth season right now.

Fans React to Cassie’s Shocking Scene

While the focus on Rue is strong, the new marketing has also sparked huge reactions online regarding Sydney Sweeney‘s character, Cassie Howard. A brief shot in the trailer shows Cassie dressed as a baby, complete with a pink pacifier in her mouth, posing on a yellow couch. This scene suggests her new job as an OnlyFans creator has taken a very strange and troubling turn.

Fans flooded social media with shocked reactions to the image.

“Had to rewind the baby outfit scene because surely I wasn’t seeing what I thought I’d just seen???” one user wrote on Reddit.

“Sydney girl, you can say no to scenes,” another fan commented on X (formerly Twitter).

Other posts showed concern for the character, with one fan saying, “Why do they always do Cassie wrong?” Sydney Sweeney had previously told Empire Magazine that this season is “unhinged” and that she pushed creator Sam Levinson to go “crazier” with the role. Cassie is also seen in the trailer marrying Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), a relationship that has been toxic since the very first season.

The Cast and Tribute to Angus Cloud

Season 3 brings back most of the main cast while saying goodbye to a few faces. Zendaya, Hunter Schafer (Jules), Jacob Elordi (Nate), Sydney Sweeney (Cassie), Alexa Demie (Maddy), and Maude Apatow (Lexi) are all returning. New cast members joining this season include Sharon Stone, Rosalia, and Natasha Lyonne.

The show also had to deal with the tragic passing of Angus Cloud in 2023. Sam Levinson explained that instead of killing off the character of Fezco, he chose to keep him alive in the story as a way to honor the actor. Fezco is in prison, and the characters talk to him on the phone during the new episodes. Levinson told The Hollywood Reporter, “I couldn’t keep him alive in real life, but I could keep his character alive in the show.” Barbie Ferreira and Storm Reid will not be returning for this season.
