The cast of the upcoming Netflix drama Melo Movie recently participated in a photo shoot and interview with ELLE Korea magazine, offering insights into their characters and the drama’s themes. The photo shoot captured the actors’ expressions, portraying the complex emotions of young adults navigating love and life.

Cast Members Discuss Their Characters

Choi Woo Shik, who plays the popular critic Ko Gyeom, connected with the drama’s premise of young people striving for both love and their dreams. He reflected on the meaning of youth, saying:

If being young means taking breaks when you need to and working hard when it’s time, all while moving forward, then I think I’m still in my youth.

Park Bo Young, portraying film director Kim Mu Bee, described her character as someone who has built up defenses to protect herself. She expressed hope that Mu Bee‘s journey will resonate with viewers facing similar struggles:

Movie has grown a lot of thorns while trying to protect herself. I think she is a character that can encourage youths in similar situations, showing that we have the strength within ourselves to break free from the things that torment us.

Lee Jun Young, who takes on the role of composer Hong Si Jun, shared a poignant line from his character:

I know I don’t have talent, but I feel so foolish for still doing this.

He explained that portraying Si Jun‘s struggle to overcome perceived lack of talent through hard work helped him process his own past experiences.

Jeon So Nee, playing screenwriter Son Ju A, envisioned her character as someone drawn to romantic stories:

Personally, I imagined Ju A as a writer who leans more toward romantic elements. I think people change and grow the most when they experience love, which is why she would be drawn to such stories. I also believe the emotions that first inspired Ju A to write stemmed from that as well.

She also expressed her curiosity about how viewers will connect with Ju A‘s personal journey:

I’m curious to see how much people will relate to Ju A’s inner journey.
