Hudson Williams is trading the ice rink for a mysterious coastal town. The Heated Rivalry breakout star‘s next big project, the mystery thriller series Yaga, will officially stream in the United States on AMC+. The eight-episode drama is scheduled to arrive on the platform later this year.
This marks Williams’ first acting role since becoming a global sensation for his performance in the hit sports drama. The announcement confirms that AMC Global Media won a competitive bidding war for the exclusive U.S. streaming rights to the Crave Original series. The news came during AMC Global Media’s Upfront Content Showcase on April 29, 2026.

What is ‘Yaga’ About? A Witchy Mystery with a Noir Twist
Forget the fairy tales. Yaga takes the old Slavic folklore of Baba Yaga—the mysterious witch who lives in a house on chicken legs—and turns it into a modern mystery.
The show follows Rapp, played by Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek). He is a private investigator who arrives in a small fishing town. His job is to find Henry Park, a missing young heir to a powerful fishery business. Williams plays Henry Park, the missing person at the center of the chaos.
“Yaga is the kind of bold, genre-bending storytelling that we look for on AMC+ to complement our core franchises and super-serve our passionate and discerning fanbases.” — Courtney Thomasma, EVP of Linear & Streaming Products for AMC Global Media.
Things get dangerous for Rapp immediately. He clashes with a suspicious local detective named Carson (Clark Backo). He also gets tangled with Katherine, a charming university professor played by Carrie-Anne Moss. The show mixes police work with hints of ancient magic and secret lives.
Hudson Williams Takes on a Dramatic New Role
Fans of Heated Rivalry are used to seeing Williams as a competitive figure skater. Yaga puts him in a very different spotlight. Even though his character, Henry Park, is missing, Williams appears throughout the story through flashbacks and the mystery surrounding his disappearance.
This role is a major step for the actor. Production on the series wrapped in early March. Williams shared his excitement on social media after finishing his part. He posted on Threads: “That’s it for me on Yaga :). Victoria: Old people + Dead asf + Nature = Feels like home/heart gets full”.

Star-Studded Cast and ‘The Matrix’ Connection
The lineup for Yaga is packed with famous faces. Carrie-Anne Moss, famous for playing Trinity in The Matrix movies, takes on the role of Katherine. Moss is not just acting in the show; she is also an executive producer.
Noah Reid, known for playing Patrick on Schitt’s Creek, leads the show as the determined detective Rapp. The supporting cast is deep, including Sheila McCarthy (The Umbrella Academy), Megan Follows, Katharine Isabelle, and Hiro Kanagawa.
Fans of Letterkenny will also recognize Clark Backo, who plays the tough local detective standing in Rapp’s way.
Showrunner Brings a Feminist Edge to the Folklore
The series comes from the mind of Kat Sandler, who wrote the play the show is based on. Sandler also serves as the writer and showrunner for the TV adaptation. She describes the project as a way to reclaim the old myth and turn it into something new.
Sandler shared her vision for the show, calling it “propulsive, accessible, dark, funny, and unapologetically bold.” She wanted to reshape the “wicked witch” idea into an “incendiary feminist antihero for our time”.
