“Finally, I can say it. My name is Mister Marathon.”
This news confirms what many fans had guessed from the trailers. Mister Marathon is not a new character created just for the show. He has a history in The Boys universe. In the world of the series, he is the speedster who came before A-Train. He was the original fast member of The Seven. A-Train later took his place as the fastest man alive.
The character has been mentioned several times in past seasons. Fans of the comic books know that Mister Marathon did not survive in the original stories. In the comics, Homelander accidentally killed him. However, the TV show is changing that part of the plot. Padalecki’s character is very much alive and ready to cause trouble.
What To Expect From Mister Marathon In Season 5

The backstory given to Mister Marathon in the show is also dark. In season 2, the character Lamplighter mentioned that he and Mister Marathon used to sneak teenage girls into Vought Tower. This fits the tone of The Boys, where most superheroes are not good people.
