The final season of The Boys is known for shocking deaths, but Episode 5 might have done something more clever than just killing off a major character. A new fan theory suggests the episode secretly revealed the exact order in which members of The Seven will die at Homelander‘s hands. The evidence comes from an unusual storytelling choice that has viewers going back to rewatch every scene.

Episode 5 of The Boys Season 5, titled “One-Shots,” broke away from the show’s normal structure. Instead of following one main storyline, the episode split into separate point-of-view segments for different characters. Each segment showed what that character was thinking and doing away from the group. Many viewers called this a filler episode at first, but a deeper look suggests the episode’s structure is actually a hidden map of future deaths.

The theory connects the order of these POV segments to the order Homelander will kill each character before the season ends. Since the first POV character in the episode, Firecracker (Valorie Curry), died at the end of the same episode, fans believe the pattern is now set for the remaining characters.

Firecracker’s Death Sets The Pattern In Motion

Firecracker‘s death was brutal and unexpected. After questioning her loyalty to Homelander during a private moment with Soldier Boy, Soldier Boy told Homelander what she said. Homelander confronted her in her apartment and shoved her head into an eagle statue, killing her instantly.

What makes this important for the theory is that Firecracker had the first POV segment in Episode 5. Her segment showed her struggling with her Christian faith while also serving Homelander‘s new church. She tried to do the right thing by calling her old reverend but ended up betraying him on live television. The episode ended with her death, matching her first position in the POV lineup.

Valorie Curry, who plays Firecracker, had previously said she wanted her character to die. The show’s creator Eric Kripke made the phone call to tell her, just like he did with Jessie T. Usher (A-Train) earlier in the season.

How The POV Order Matches The Predicted Death Order

After Firecracker‘s segment, the next POV in Episode 5 belonged to Black Noir II (Nathan Mitchell). His segment showed him trying to become a bigger star within The Seven. He worked with a disgraced director to create a faith-healing persona, but The Deep ruined his plans in a graphic way. According to the theory, Black Noir II will be the next to die because his POV appears second.

The third POV segment belonged to Terror, Butcher‘s dog. This might sound strange, but the theory explains that Homelander could kill Terror to hurt Butcher even more. The show has never avoided going too far, and killing a pet would be the ultimate emotional attack on Butcher before the final battle.

Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) had the fourth POV segment. Her storyline in Episode 5 showed her actively planning against Homelander while working with Ashley. She believes she can outsmart him, but the theory suggests her confidence will be her downfall. If Homelander finds out about her plan, she will be the fourth to die.

The fifth and final POV segment belonged to Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). His segment was the longest and included the much-discussed Supernatural reunion with Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. Soldier Boy had a chance to kill Homelander but chose not to. This hesitation, the theory says, will get him killed at the very end.

Why Some Characters Are Missing From The List

The theory has some noticeable gaps. The Deep did not get a POV segment in Episode 5. Fans think this means he will survive because he knows how to adapt. He sticks close to whoever is in charge and never challenges authority. That survival skill has kept him alive for five seasons.

Oh Father, another member of The Seven, also did not get a POV segment. His absence from the lineup suggests he might not face Homelander‘s wrath directly or could die in a different way not connected to this pattern.

Ashley is involved in Sister Sage‘s plan but did not get her own POV either. This could mean her role is to trigger someone else’s death rather than die herself.

Fans React To The Death Order Theory

Viewers on social media have started rewatching Episode 5 to check the POV order for themselves. One fan on X wrote: “Firecracker died right after her POV. Now I’m worried about Black Noir.” Another fan said: “The writers put the deaths in plain sight and we almost missed it.”

Some viewers remain skeptical, pointing out that Terror getting a POV seems like a joke rather than a serious clue. But others argue that the show has hidden major plot points in smaller moments before.

Terror’s Storyline Offers A Separate Clue About Butcher

A different fan theory focuses specifically on Terror‘s segment and what it means for Butcher. In the episode, Terror almost eats a chocolate bar and later eats a chocolate souffle that Frenchie threw in the trash. Hughie forces Terror to vomit using hydrogen peroxide, saving the dog’s life.

Reddit user Mean_Two_2710 pointed out that this mirrors Butcher‘s situation with the virus. Butcher is poisoning himself to kill supes, but Hughie will likely save him at the last moment, just like he saved Terror. The theory also connects Frenchie making the souffle to Frenchie trying to recreate the virus. Both creations almost kill someone Butcher cares about.

The final three episodes of The Boys Season 5 will air on May 6, May 13, and May 20 on Prime Video. Viewers will find out soon if the POV theory was correct or just a coincidence.
