Kanye West will perform in the Netherlands on June 6 and June 8, 2026, after Dutch officials confirmed there are no legal grounds to stop the rapper from entering the country. The decision comes despite strong objections from Dutch lawmakers, Jewish groups, and several other European nations that have blocked his performances over past antisemitic remarks.
The 48-year-old artist, who now goes by Ye, last performed in Europe in 2014. The upcoming shows at the GelreDome stadium in Arnhem mark his return to the continent after facing cancellations in the United Kingdom, France, Poland, and Switzerland.
Dutch Government Says Solid Grounds Needed for Ban
Bart van den Brink, the Netherlandsโ Minister for Asylum and Migration, stated on May 29 that legal reviews found no reason to deny Ye entry. A majority of the Dutch House of Representatives had earlier called for the rapper to be barred from the country.
โYou need clear reasons to bar people from your country. We did not find those in the analyses that were conducted,โ said Van den Brink. โHis past statements are not, at this moment, a reason to deny him entry.โ
The minister also noted that the Netherlands must follow European Schengen area rules. He said the concerts will go ahead unless the situation changes before the performance dates.
Arnhem Mayor Approves Permit on Public Safety Grounds
Ahmed Marcouch, the mayor of Arnhem, granted the event permit for both concerts on May 28. He acknowledged that the shows have caused upset, especially within Arnhemโs Jewish community. Marcouch called Yeโs past statements reprehensible but said a mayor cannot refuse a permit on moral grounds alone.
The decision was based only on legal public order and safety rules. Police, fire services, and medical services confirmed that the organizer had taken enough measures for security, crowd control, and traffic. The mayor also said no permits to protest the concerts had been requested so far.
The public prosecution department could still step in if any laws are broken during the performances, which will be closely watched.
European Bans and Global Backlash
Ye has faced growing consequences across Europe over the past year. In April 2026, the British government denied him entry, calling his presence โnot conducive to the public good.โ That move forced the cancellation of his scheduled Wireless Festival headline performance in London.
A concert in Marseille was postponed after reports that Franceโs interior minister sought to block it. A Polish stadium canceled his show scheduled for June 19, with the culture minister saying Poland wanted to bar him over his โpromotion of Nazism.โ A planned performance in Switzerland also fell through.
The backlash intensified after Ye released a song called โHeil Hitlerโ and sold T-shirts with swastikas on his website. He later removed the merchandise after public outcry.
Apology and Explanation
In January 2026, Ye took out a full-page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal to apologize for his behavior. He wrote that he is not a Nazi or an antisemite and said he loves Jewish people. Ye blamed his past statements on an undiagnosed brain injury and untreated bipolar disorder.
Despite the apology, the Centre for Information and Documentation on Israel (CIDI) , a Jewish advocacy group in the Netherlands, restated its opposition after the government announced Ye could perform. The group said his actions carried historical significance and that apologizing later does not erase them.

Concert Details and What to Expect
Ye will perform on June 6 and June 8, 2026, at the GelreDome in Arnhem, a city about 100 kilometers southeast of Amsterdam. The June 8 show falls on the rapperโs birthday.
These will be his first major European concerts since 2014. The venue has confirmed the dates on its website. No official word has come about setlist or special guests.
Local authorities said security will be tight, and police will monitor the events closely for any violations of Dutch law. The shows come at a time when Ye remains one of the most polarizing figures in music, with fans and critics sharply divided over his return to the European stage.
