The popular DC animated series My Adventures with Superman reached a major streaming milestone right as its third season came to an end. The show climbed into HBO Max’s Top 10 most-streamed TV shows in the United States, securing the ninth spot according to data from FlixPatrol. This achievement came just before the Season 3 finale, titled “The Return,” premiered on Adult Swim on August 15, 2026.
The series, which started in 2023, offers a fresh take on the Man of Steel. It is not connected to James Gunn’s main DC Universe. Instead, it blends superhero action with coming-of-age storytelling, romance, and friendship. The show follows Clark Kent (voiced by Jack Quaid), Lois Lane (voiced by Alice Lee), and Jimmy Olsen (voiced by Ishmel Sahid) as they work at the Daily Planet. The second season introduced Supergirl (voiced by Kiana Madeira), and the third season brought in future versions of Superman and Lois’ children, Jonathan and Lara, voiced by Darren Criss and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport.
A Major Streaming Win for the Animated Series
The show’s climb up the streaming charts shows its growing popularity. According to FlixPatrol, My Adventures with Superman became HBO Max’s ninth most-streamed TV show in the United States. It currently sits between 90 Day Fiancé and The Wicked on the chart.
This success is not limited to the United States. The series has also performed well globally. After the Season 3 premiere on June 13, the show reached the number four spot on HBO Max in countries like the Bahamas, Belize, Colombia, and Haiti. It also trended at number six in Mexico and Switzerland, and number seven in several other countries across the Americas and Europe. In the United Kingdom, it reached the number nine spot, and it ranked number ten in Germany.
“My Adventures with Superman soars on HBO Max ahead of its Season 3 finale, adding another streaming success to DC’s animated lineup.”
The series also holds a perfect 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes for every season. This combination of critical praise and streaming success has made it one of DC’s most popular animated shows in recent years.
What Happened in the Season 3 Finale
The Season 3 finale, “The Return,” brought the season to a close with high stakes. The episode aired on Adult Swim’s Toonami block on August 15, 2026, at 12 am ET/PT. It became available to stream on HBO Max the following day, August 16, 2026, from 3 am ET.
The finale picked up after the events of episode 9, with Superman and his friends facing a powerful enemy. The main villain of the season was the Eradicator (voiced by Steve Blum), a Kryptonian clone created by Lex Luthor using his own grey matter and Superman’s tissue sample.
In the episode, Clark Kent found himself in the Fortress of Solitude, about to be killed by Brainiac’s robots. A Super clone saved him, but the clone was still under the influence of the bots. Clark was able to calm the clone down by showing him mercy. Brainiac then took Clark deeper into the Fortress and explained that Krypton was powered by Rao, a living sun. One of Rao’s children was powering the Fortress and could give Clark his powers back, though it could also destroy him.
Meanwhile, on the battlefield, the Eradicator was causing massive destruction. Supergirl and the Kent children, Jonathan and Lara, tried to fight back but were no match for the Eradicator. Amanda Waller ordered a retreat, but Lois Lane refused to leave the Kryptonians behind.
Lex Luthor had a plan to stop the Eradicator using a mind-control helmet. However, his plan backfired, and the Eradicator’s clones turned against him. Superman saved the day by punching the Eradicator into oblivion.
The finale ended on a hopeful note. Superman showed mercy to his clone, Bizarro, which moved Brainiac to accept Clark as the last lord of Krypton. The episode also featured a redemptive arc for Lex Luthor, who agreed to help destroy the Eradicator. The season ended with the Kent family on a happy note, as Lois adopted a child. However, the mystery around Superman’s resurrected powers still remains unsolved.
The Future of the Series Remains Uncertain
Despite the show’s success, there has been no official word on a Season 4 renewal. The decision rests with DC Studios. Showrunner Jake Wyatt addressed the renewal question on social media, confirming that the show’s long-term future depends on decisions made above the creative team.
While fans wait for news, the creators are already working on expanding the “Adventure-verse.” A spin-off series, My Adventures With Green Lantern, is currently in production. Wyatt confirmed the project in late June, though a release date has not been set.
“Yeah, that’s our next ‘Adventure-verse’ show. ‘Adventure-verse’ works for me,” Wyatt told ScreenRant. “It’s still in production, and we still are not sure when it’s coming out.”
All three seasons of My Adventures With Superman are currently streaming on HBO Max.
